Actually, that is *EXACTLY* how the "30%" heat failure number came about.
A random Australian webblog recieved used an anonymous source in an Australian retailer who said "it must be about 30%".
EXACTLY the same.
"The begin of this alarming phenomenon starts last November when the Belgian retailer “Games Mania” stated that the 40% of PS3 sold have been returned due to hardware problems primarily related to the system being unable to read discs"
Read YOUR own post, I've copied it above. now, tell me how the following makes sense:
"i have seen nothing here that convinces me this is a major hardware problem"
?????????????
No one in their right mind thinks the Xbox 360 fails at "30%". That number came from an anonymous gamestore employee in Australia.
There is no evidence, or data that supports that number.
SquareTrade, the 3rd party warranty firm is the only non-MS _data_ on failures. They said about 8% general-hardware failure. They said 16% claims rate (claims != general hardware failure).
So, if you want to talk about the relative PS3 vs. Xbox 360 fa...
Like hell, thats some serious FUD you got there buddy. I dont believe you for a second.
For all the issues the Xbox 360 had at launch, thankfully they made many revisions to the motherboard to fix the heat issues in mid-2007.
And, anyone who has a problem gets a free fix.
Now, lets see if Sony treats its customers as well as Microsoft does.
Hey everyone, look at all the off topic posts about the Xbox 360 trying to deflect attention from PS3 hardware faults.
Hey, Sony has quite a record with hardware problems -- the PS2 was notoriously bad, and Sony didnt pony up the extended hardware warranty and free fixes.
I've got 3 broken PS2s in my closet. In my home town, there were STORES who's only business was to repair broken PS2s.
Its nice to have some insight into the process.
Thanks Bungie & MS.
of course you do. of course you do. *rolls eyes*.
Everything costs more in EU. The fact taht its exclusive Xbox 360 launch doesnt mean anything.
but of COURSE you would try and paint it otherwise... because you're such an honest, neutral observer.
A conspiracy against MS? Are you part of it? You sure act like you do.

Halo 3: 8 vs. 8 Multiplayer.
Frontlines: Fuel of War: 50 vs. 50 Multiplayer.
Huxley: 60 vs. 60 (100 vs. 100 possibly) Multiplayer.
The point is that different games want different experiences. Just putting more people in the game is not the point.
There is all manner of Massive Multiplayer videogames here or coming exclusively for Xbox 360.
Ha, I thought the same thing. The dude in the cap looks like he enjoys a cigar and a shot of whiskey. My kind o' badass.
I think its a terrific idea for MS to release a motion control.
Each of the console makers copy from each other. Sony is copying Second Life with Home. Sony is copying MSFT's achievements.
MS copies the waggle controller.
Everyone improves on the ideas of the others, its called competition and progress. Its how it works in every industry, and there is nothign new about this in gaming consoles. 3D motion control was available on PCs for years be...

You should both play EA NHL08. Its terrific. You use the right analogue stick to simulate your stick -- it feels really natural... it takes a lot to get used to it, to switch from the old control scheme to this new one, but once you do, its a lot of fun.
I have 2K07 NHL and EA NHL08 is much better IMO.
"Going to the shareholders" is a prelude to a proxy war (the shareholders displace the current board who refuse to accept the offer).
"a hostile takeover" is when CompanyA buys the un-willing CompanyB stock on the open market.
In neither EA/T2 or MSFT/YHOO is this a "hostile takeover".
@1.1
MS's bid for YHOO is at *twice* the price the company was worth when they made the offer.
MS is being *very* generous in fact.
The shareholders want YHOO to accept -- and MS knows it, and the YHOO board knows it.
The only question is, When will they release it in the States?
Hironobu Sakaguchi's Lost Odyssey is a masterpiece, the best JRPG of this generation thusfar.
Lost Odyssey, without the DLC is *massive*. The DLC is an option for people (like me) who love the game and want to play more.
If you want, you can buy a Xbox 360 and play it too. I highly recommend it.
KotOR from BioWare. Best. Video. Game. Company. Ever. :)
I can't wait for Mass Effect 2.
Hey a trivia game, thats great news. I'll go for that.
After I had 3 PS2s fail, I said the exact same thing.
Ive had a SNES, N64/Saturn, PS2/Xbox, and now an Xbox 360. After burning through 3 PS2s, I swore I'd never buy another PS. My launch Xbox 360 has lasted longer than my PS2, and If it fails from heat issues, I get a free fix. Now, only if Sony would fix the failed PS2s I have.
I think those people who are taking glee in the reports of Xbox 360 failures werent old enough to have a PS2 for very long -- or not ...
