They already are, Wonderful 101 X is a new Nintendo ip, they've recently acquired project zero/fatal frame off of tecmo.
The old guard have very little to do with the actual making of games anymore, and they're slowly transitioning things to the new creative minds within the company.
Their last new franchise was the miis, which did just that, they've just released their first free to play game in japan and that was a brand new ip also.

It uses all standard parts so it basically is a PC in a compact case.
Chances are its going to have at least 8gb ram in it, the processor and the gpu should be good for a few years especially considering its only going to have to output to 1080p and apparently SteamOS is a lot less resource hungry than windows which means games play better on lower speced machines.

yes it is. Its part of the 8th gen of systems. Its a step up from the wii. Its a next gen system.
As i've said 100s of times if 1080p 6ofps is what is supposed to define that generation of consoles. the wiiu does it.
It also has lots of innovative little featurea that you didn't have on previous systems. OFf screen play that actually works properly for a start.
