i think the only way to win back fans is for this game to get a high review score.
Something tells me that if it does youll have plenty of people that will get amnesia about all this.

I agree with you. personally im kind starting to look at this game as an alternate version of the dmc franchise anyway... kind of like the different versions of some the Marvel characters ( I think spiderman has like 7)
I really just want to play it now just to find out how much of the game they have reeally changed. I hope they left all the important things in like combat, but we shall see...

I personally didnt think combat in the trailer was any slower than it was in devil may cry 1 and 2.
Dmc 3 and 4 were definitely faster moving games though.

Agreed. You give movie tie in games like ToyStory 3 or Thor a 4 not this game I think the visual style alone gets it at least a five. I really enjoyed the demo.

I agree with you fans are very important. But on the other side of things I think more fans (at least today) care more about reviews. Think about how many times a game had been talked up quite a bit on this site or maybe one you might have been looking forward to yourself, that didnt quite get an 8 (8. 0s seems to be that magical number) and people just based off the review didnt even give it a shot.
I think IO knows that they need to try some new things and they expect to...

I feel a little differently i think that while combat is say diffrent from that of dmc 3 and 4, its more in line with dmc 1 and 2 (but its still just a bit different)
But from everthing ive read and seen so far capcom had a private showing of gameplay and the response from editors has been pretty positive.
However what kind of worries me is the description of the platforming in between the fighting and the world breaking down around you... Dont know how i feel about...
I think talented devs make the game not fans. Certainly its important that it sells well but game developing is just as much an art as it is a business.
Not saying that they should completely ignore the fans of the franchise either but its impossible to please everyone. I think with the right creative vision they can pull of an excellent game. Im liking the direction their going in so far.

Soooo rebelllion was not in ALL the previous dmc games... It was not included in first. It was later added in dmc2 (you know that other bad dmc game) so its not exactly a trademark weapon. Like lets say ebony and ivory.
