Are you trying to say that the graphics should look like the concept art used for the article? That since the game doesn't look like that we shouldn't settle for it? That would be nice, but looking at how pretty a game is comes second to how well it plays and how much fun I have with it. The way that Skyward sword looks is fine for now. Sure I'd like it to have more advanced graphics. But that is hardly the most important thing, and Skyward Sword is by no means an ugly game. '...
I'm not so sure there will be a 3DS lite. The 3DS is roughly the same size as the DS lite, and if anything a larger screen would be nice. I'd expect a 3DS XL but not a 3DS lite. It doesn't really need to be flatter, and a significantly larger screen won't fit on the current model size.
As for Smash Bros. as a pack in with a 3DS XL... It would be all the reason I need to hand down my 3DS to a friend and make another 3DS purchase. Nintendo... You evil bastards.....
It isn't about subjectivity. It's about a group of gamers constantly talking crap about what else is out there as if their little pin hole view is all important. Every day we get these Wii U articles that are news laced with b.s. If you believe that the statement in that article isn't worth the questioning of maturity level then I don't know what to say to you.
When someone says, 'I don't like that, I personally feel as though that style of game doesn...
I feel the same way as Iwata. By no means do I want the FPS to 'disappear' but it would be a very bad thing if all games became influenced by that genre just because it's so popular for some. Unfortunately, we even have FPS mechanics in even a multitude of R.P.G.'s now. It's as though some people won't buy a game unless they can somehow translate their CoD skills to the gameplay. Very unfortunate...
As for the writer's comments on Nintendo not grow...
lol
Only to the 500 or so haters on this site. N4G majority perception =/= reality when it comes to Nintendo more often than not. And face it, those people aren't buying a Nintendo product anyway over their favorite brand even if Nintendo came to their house, kissed their butts and handed it to them at a discounted price. So who cares what they think?
These articles are about one thing and one thing only. Trying to get open minded people off of the fence so that the one bran...
Actually on Wind Waker during the parts where you have to make the little helpers follow you he says, 'Come on!' it's just really squeaky and sounds a lot like his usual grunts and yipes. I'm o.k. with that sort of thing. But voice over with Link having conversations? No thank you.
How are they screwing up online? They are letting 3rd party developers do whatever they want. Nintendo isn't going to invest millions upon millions into dedicated servers when the only online Nintendo game people will play by the millions is Smash Bros. Nintendo makes games that can be played online, but for the most part people prefer to play with people in the same room.
Also, why is DVD playback so important to some people? It makes no sense. Everyone and their mother...
Every generation, Power PC technology gets more and more efficient. Counting raw mhz/ghz just can't give us an accurate idea of that the CPU is capable of anymore.
For example, the original Xbox had a Pentium 2 at around 700mhz. The Game Cube had Power PC at just under 500mhz. The efficiency of the latter made it more useful for computing than the former. Now all of the current consoles either use Power PC chips, or chips with a similar philosophy. And every year the newe...
With Vesperia, the Tales battle and growth system is finally near perfect. Now it's all about little enhancements here and there. I can't wait for Graces.
Lot Odyssey was pretty good. An unexpectedly good RPG near the beginning of this console generation. No Tales of Vesperia means that this list has a thick element of fail attached to it though imo...
Nintendo:
'No you can't buy this game in your region.'
'No you may not buy it from another region and play it on your Wii, it is region locked.'
'No you may not mod your Wii in order to get around this.'
'No, we probably won't ever change our mind.'
When it comes to gaming, fewer things hurt worse than this sort of attitude.
I think they meant that the art style might be totally different. Of course that may mean not making the game look 'realistic' but we'll still get lots of shaders, lighting effects, physics and AA.
The sad thing is, if they did this for hits, they'll get them, but a lot of people are going to now avoid their site. An opinion piece is an opinion piece and all, but this one is just out of line, childish, and embarrassing for gamers in general.
This girl must be fresh out of childhood, and her editor must be sitting back with his troll face on thinking that this will be a good thing for them... Too bad.
P.S. Thanks for displaying how biased and ignorant the article is in the title and first sentence of this N4G link. Many 'True Gamers' won't click on this garbage. You see, serious gamers tend not to get too caught up in the 'Which system is teh bestest' B.S. They just like playing good games, on whatever console they exist on.
What a pathetic train of thought. If people like this article's author had their way, the gaming experience would be a very narrow and shallow one. You know, like this console generation has been for a huge number of these kid/very young adult loud mouths who first got serious about gaming on an Xbox controller. Within the last Decade.
Not that that means that their opinions can't be valid, but such a shallow, relatively inexperienced person probably shouldn't be...
Well that's part of my own personal beef with Pokemon, Nintendo and Game Freak. Big things aside, there are so many little things that they could do that people want, and with as technically simple as these games are they likely make more profit than any other video game franchise. Yet they as a rule, go as cheap as possible, and leave some major desires unfulfilled. Why not? We're going to buy it anyway...
When did it stop being their 'Killer App'?
Answer: Never.
It's one thing to suggest some new things, or things that one feels should be changed. But let's deal in reality here... Every major Pokemon release sells over 10 million copies and often upward of 15 and 20 million. A quarter of that would make it a Killer App.
Translation: 'Hey guys, don't buy that! Wait for the next Sony/Microsoft console! You want to be "right" don't you?'
I wouldn't say that the Wii name has ever 'made sense' to me. It's clear though that I and pretty much everyone else got used to it and accepted it.
Nice article. So many possibilities amidst the chaos of the 'non-reveal'. I can't wait for more specifics, and more game announcements.
