They are selling on consoles pretty much as they have been on the ps2 and ps1. People are misinformed abut the popularity of JRPg's in the west. Dragon quest 8 sales were average in the US. Only pokemon and FF are truly popular.
On average a good JRPG sells outside of japan 300-700k and thats the way it has always been.
Also calling a genre "dying" and not account handheld gaming is pretty stupid.
