If the graphics are under-appreciated it's probably because Skyrim debuted during the same console gen.
TES was not tied to console cycles previously. Now that it is, they have to rely on tricks and fakery to make Skyrim look like as huge a leap forward as Oblivion was from Morrowind or Morrowind was from Daggerfall.
I mean, it's a great game, but they aren't fooling anyone here.
Actually, a common complaint about Oblivion was its over-saturation of colours.
I point it out to say, it's not like Bethesda haven't been mixing it up in the art dept. It's just that some players apparently didn't like that, but LOVE Fallout, Gears, etc desaturated filters or palettes.
Sometimes, I think it's really the audience who's at fault.
GTA can easily handle a female protagonist.
It's not like the games would focus on some uniquely female quest.
Dollars to donuts it's only Tommy Vercetti in a dress anyway so who cares.
It wasn't too bad.
But compared to Morrowind, the mundane factors really stood out.
Just because it's new doesn't mean it's what people want.
It's been done before the game ever came out. It's not that uncommon a plot tbh.
I can't support Origin on principle.
Valve has had it's bad spots, but overall, they've done a lot more to TRY to satisfy their customer base than EA ever has in it's entire history.
I do not trust publishers not to dick us over, especially these days when they basically control the industry. If EA's Origin is indeed trying to be the new Steam, we *will* get screwed somewhere down the line.
That imo is inevitable.
So you (or the writer) get to decide when everyone should have beaten a game?
Well, thanks, but would you kindly fuck off with that nonsense?
We call that being a dick.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I thought gamers somewhere prized CONTENT over a few particle effects.
My bad, guys!
X-Men Destiny... The game looks bad (on many levels) and got a lot of bad reviews.
From the vids, it looks like SK didn't even bother putting forth a real effort. Don't quite know if more time would have helped.
@morgan:
Kind of sad to see a person who can make valid and insightful comments unable to keep himself from trolling.
I guess that's why you have one bubble.
Better visuals are nice.
But it would be kind of cool to get something a bit more substantial imo.
I had hoped that EA wanted to do something to dispel the notion that publishers are nothing but greedy asshats, but no such luck.
"Origin sucks!"
Aussies telling it like it is.
Exactly. A lot of people don't seem to understand that werewolves are a part of the lore already. Especially the lore of Skyrim.
I guess that's what happens when your first TES is Oblivion and you only know pop culture.
Twilight? Really?
@Elite:
Well, it sucks, but EVE players are the paying customers. Their needs probably deserve more attention right now.
But yeah, I don't really care about Dust514 either. PS3 guys aren't paying them either and as far as I can tell, aren't very interested.
Pet peeve:
It is such *bad* form to put spoilers in the headline and/or blurb.
The game is not new, but is it so hard to make a title that doesn't ruin it for people who might be interested in playing it in the future?
Well, it looks like a JRPG enthusiast site with a few WRPGs sprinkled in randomly.
Not too surprised, considering.
@ryhanon: That's my picture of the guy in a nutshell.
He talks a lot. Some of it is relevant. Some of it is not.
I usually pass stories based on his little tweets by.
Wish I'd done it again this time.
"I don't know why developers never max out the PS3."
Probably because Skyrim sold over 3 million in a few days anyway.
Why do it if you don't have to?
That's not how I like to look at it, but I'm sure that's how they do.
