I have my doubts about motion controls, but I do not doubt Suda51/Grasshopper at all. If they make it with motion, I'll play it with motion.

@GWAVE: And you'd be totally right, but opinions change. Personally, I'm still waiting on the games to materialize. Hype means nothing without substance. But guys like Suda and Hino, devs who don't really make casual games, taking an optimistic look at the tech is encouraging. I mean, Suda for instance went to Wii and DS, but his games neve...

Easiest explanation is it's like a still life version of Heavy Rain. Heavily story driven. A scripted story plays out and you make decisions that affect all the characters involved, even bringing some into conflict with others. The goal is to try to get all characters to suitable conclusions.

I was wondering why people would want Dream Club till the picture loaded. I guess that's one way to move those 360s.

Another way (shockingly) is GeoW2 which I am surprised made any most wanted list in Japan. Outranking the likes of Tekken 6 and Monster Hunter? That is freaky stuff. But then again so is most of that site. I also wonder if Magna Carta (PS2) was well enough received in Japan to warrant a high demand for the sequel.

@darren: But this is not a statement against PSP/DS at all.

He's talking about mobile PHONE games specifically and how they will be unable to unseat tried and true handhelds like DS and PSP.

Hate to disagree so vehemently with the author, but if he took a few seconds to look at a spec sheet he'd see plenty of upgrades.

DSi adds:
2 cameras for new functionality
internal memory (256 MB)
expandability via SD card slot
16 MB of RAM instead of 4MB (that is 4x the RAM)
and a faster main cpu

Those sound like decent reasons to raise the price. And I didn't even mention the software upgrades. The GBA slot is a loss but let's face it...

My next right after Flower, Sun, & Rain.

I signed up for the beta when it was announced at GDC. I withhold any judgement till then. I don't doubt that Patcher can identify something as rudimentary as a game hiccup during play, but that's far from a good sampling.

So far it's been a room of devs next to the servers. Patcher all alone playing Crysis.

Get some real field testing (read open beta) done if you want to convince naysayers. This isn't impressing anyone really.

@GEC: Well, Silverlight will be a key component in streaming HD movies as well. There was an article a few days ago showing just that.

But, yeah, I can't get excited over 'better' ads.

I don't think it's that bad on Lfm's side. Last.fm is its own entity and they're probably the ones making money off the ads and definitely the ones making money off premium accounts. It's the same option given to PC subscribers for the same price.

MS of course is just up to tried and true tricks of the trade. Taking something that's free to everyone and making it a perk of their premium service. There's some argument to be made for the benefit of premium servers, integrated chat,...

I don't see how it matters what happens to exclusives. As long as console makers don't put out one unified machine, there will always be differences. Exclusive functionality is pretty much the same thing as exclusive games. Last time I checked the 360 doesn't play blu-ray, the PS3 can't log in to XBL, and the Wii won't have HD graphics. As long as those differences exist, someone is going to take advantage of them.

It sounds desperate. Even moreso since they're using a stupid point system. Service Points? Really?

It sounded as if Funcom had really improved upon AoC, but moves like this leave me wondering.

Despite all of the well rendered t&a I've seen in gaming today, my most memorable instance of gaming nudity is sadly finding out nude Raiden could still cartwheel. *gag*

Oh come on. I get interested in this game and all of a sudden the doors shut on me. Make a better beta. We can rebuild it. We have the technology.

Oh, I see, you weren't trying to be helpful above, but trying to imply the Kodu devs 'ripping off' a learning tool. Well, that's disappointing.

Especially since I've mentioned they acknowledge Alice and other programs right there on the front page: http://research.microsoft.c...

6092d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Yeah, Alice has been around for a while. Kodu devs actually have them linked among others on their MS research page. It's not a competition. The main difference between the programs is Kodu is set up for gamers. There's no typing or anything, it's all done with your 360 controller. I guess they want it there on XBL so kids will see it in the context of a cool new malleable game instead of homework.

It seems like the reasoning indicates a transference of information from ME2 to ME3. Whether that's stats and equipment this time around or just story elements, I dunno. I would assume it's more the former since new game+ wasn't a problem connecting the player choices of ME to ME2.

My thing is, why not just force the user to save over a new slot for new game+ and make it ineligible for use in ME3? A new game+ is a quick, easy fix for replay value and I hate to see it go.

@iamtehpwn: Maybe you just have a problem with Bethesda? That's how they design RPGs, as true create-a-role-and-fill-it role-playing. Besides the main plot, they expect YOU to create your own tale of heroics (or villainy). Old school stuff. It's a totally different style. It has nothing to do with quality. I could easily say I hate those glorified visual novels they call JRPGs and their cut-n-paste characters. But I happen to enjoy both genres.

Bioware is considered a lot less fr...

These are like the dummy steps you'd get calling customer service or something.

"First, make sure you own a computer and that it is plugged in and running."

"Resident Evil 4 is what started the TPS (third person shooter) genre."

That has to be mistranslated. Or maybe he meant in Japan only?

Anyway, seems cool. Always nice to get the dev's perspective on the matter. Looks like it could be a pretty solid shooter.

I have to ask though, what's with all these devs opting for online MP only?

Why do all the links lead back to the article.
