I don't think FF will cause SE's downfall. We gamers are a forgiving bunch when it comes to our beloved titles.

Well there are developers such as NIS that doesn't make games for everyone.
They know where their fanbase are, they don't plan to alienate that fanbase, they know their strong points and they don't have unrealistic sales expectations.
So for me this is a good thing not a bad one.
