Sony was arrogant towards it's consumers before the PS3 launched. So far, M$ is only arrogant towards sony. I don't really care how much they yell at each other, and nobody really should. It's once they start saying things like, "people would buy an empty box if we sold it to them," that the consumer should be upset.
Unless of course the company is lying in its arrogance, which could potentially be slander, at which point the consumer has a better right to be upset.
Pretty sure he was talking to Godmars.
@ultimolu: You'll be labeled as a microsoft hater because you're a microsoft hater. No other reason is necessary.
The 360 is making them a profit. You don't cut businesses that are making a profit or even breaking even unless your company is going bankrupt. It would just be economically stupid.
edit: 4 people so far need to take an economics course.
M$ needs a way to separate good games from bad games. From people I've talked to, most of them avoid xna games just because they don't want to sift through bad games to find the good ones.
There's no really good way to tell which games are even worth your time, and that's making a lot of sales suffer. XNA is still an excellent learning tool though. The knowledge base in the community is huge.
Are you butts high? Firstly, Game Design is not Game Programming. Game Design is way more creative than technical. Now, game development, which I'm sure is what you meant to say, still has a large part of creativity.
Sure it will be technical, but nobody will have any fun playing a boring game. If you don't spend any time being creative, nobody will want to play your game.
Using your example, sure there's a good deal of programming in mario. That doesn't mean anyone ...
the interviews and stuff are better, but can he please get rid of the belt?
it's just so dumb.
how would the plagiarize the article 2 days before the article goes up?
I don't claim kotaku is good, I just think it's kind of stupid to think an article posted 2 days before another one would immediately be the one plagiarizing.
I think they said it was going to be conkers good fur day
phantasy star universe?
Your explanation of his mistake makes no sense, because you started a sentence with a preposition and missed a comma before the word because, which starts its own extreme clause rather than a subordinate clause.
I think a good game would sell enough on both consoles to negate this incentive. If the pixeljunk games weren't exclusive I practically guarantee they'd sell at least 1:1 on the 360 vs PS3.
Thus... such is life.
if they don't fix the camera, it'll be just as hard to play as it was on the 360, and that's why people were upset with it.
activision owns treyarch. edit: I mean infinity ward (they both are). MYBAD.
Modern Warfare is what ghost recon should have been tbh. I'm pissed that GR has changed so much from the first few games on the 360. It doesn't even feel like remotely the same game.
Greenburg never mentioned percents in that article. Does anybody know who's right? I'm guessing they're both right, but then i don't see how this really counters what was said...
I think you underestimate the cost of xbl. xbl revenue includes revenue from xblm, and the hosting on that is not free. Not to mention licensing costs on some of the content there, as well as the stuff just stored in the xbl community servers.
And I never said the price cut didn't hurt their profits. Obviously it did. I was just pointing out inconsistencies in your analysis. I'm actually interested to see how a PS3 cut would affect sales of the 360. With the 360 dropping so low i...
They've upgraded XBL twice a year almost every year since the launch of the 360 dude.
"take away XBL revenue"
if you're going to take away it's revenue, you have to take away it's cost too. it's not like they run it for free.
Also, M$ was down in the beginning of the year, and way up at the end. They're continuing an upward month to month trend. I don't understand how you can think that's bad. The more you generalize the less analytical it is. Week to week sales would give the best trend analysis, followed by month to month, followed by quar...
examiner is pretty much a glorified public blog site.
Why would M$ pay them for anything?
isn't the examiner just a blog site?
I forget where the interview was, but someone explained the 3 tiered system for xbox games.
1.) AAA full production games
2.) Xbla Games
3.) XNA community games
The scale and quality is supposed to decrease as you move down the tiers. If you made a game of the scope and quality of an XBLA game, it only makes sense that you'd try to get it published as an XBLA game rather than an XNA community game.
