It's probably going to be a great game. It shouldn't matter if you're getting $200 worth of content for $60 or $60 worth of content for the same price.
The game definitely warrants a $60 price by the standards set with other $60 games.
It's going to be a great game more likely than not, and I'm sorry you won't be able to experience it or any other valve games just because you expect your bag of kingsford charcoal to be full of diamonds.
I wasn't talking about forza or GT5. I was talking about greywulf misunderstanding or poor explanation of resolutions.
greywulf:
you said this
"They upscale the other portion which is 1020x1080 iirc to 1920x1080."
you cannot upscale from 1020X1080 (a non-widescreen resolution) to 1920X1080 (a widescreen resolution). You can cut off the top and bottom of the first image and then upscale the result, but you cannot upscale from 1020X1080 to ...
you have a horrible understanding of resolutions. It might render 1080 one way, but that doesn't matter at all. 1080p refers to a single measure of horizontal lines of pixels. It NEVER refers to the vertical.
It is also impossible (THAT'S RIGHT. IMPOSIBLE) to upscale from a standard resolution image to a wide screen image. It is possible to downscale from either to either by cutting pieces to get the right resolution, and it is possible to upscale from widescreen to widescreen or...
There are tons of videos...
they do it so that their big games can appear in the top 10 twice. You'll see it with it's big first day/week sales (like above) to get into the top 10, then you'll see it again next month with 4 weeks worth of sales.
Odds are they won't take the top spot as often, but they'll have games appearing 2-3 times in top 10 sales for the month.
not too shabby. Infamous should have a decent month in june too.
And the premium/pro is the most sold 360 SKU @above. That is as close to a fact as it can be without having hard sales numbers for each sku.
Doesn't anyone understand how game announcements work. They don't announce every feature at once. They announce it over time to build anticipation.
petitioners: "whaaaaaa you need to tell us more features now, or you guys suck..."
Valve: "you need to grow a pair of balls while we hit you with some truth..."
halo 2 looked worse in pretty much every regard than halo 3. Effects, character models, environment, lighting, textures.
First picture is halo 2, second is halo 3. First is a cutscene, second is in game.
did you look at the comments section of that article? if not, you should.
FFVIII character models were better than the cutscene models in FFVII. Huge jumps are made with new generations. It's just as true with Ico vs SoTC vs Trico and halo vs halo 2 vs halo 3 RE4 vs RE5.
they just need to change the way they sell them. If you could buy points at more intervals, you wouldn't have to buy 400 points to buy a 200 point item and always have more points than you need.
The point system lets you get around different currencies easily.
They fixed RROD for free and paying less than $4 a month for an online service isn't that bad considering the number of features they're using the money for.
A lot of what they complained about completely disagrees with what other people that have played it and the first reviews said.
idk what to believe :-/
The justification is simple. A lot of them were un-needed jobs in RROD repair and call taking, which is much less a problem than it originally was.
For those not in the know, you don't want to spend more money than necessary in a recession.
Facial recognition should be a little bit more accurate with natal. It senses 3D space, not a 3D aproximation of a 2D space. Where you could hold a picture of someone's face up with the eye, natal could, in theory, tell that the face was flat, and not even sense it as a face.
Sony's conference just showed more of a lot of games we already knew were coming.
M$ showed a lot of features and games we hadn't known about at all. streaming 1080p, free games, lots of exclusives, MGS leaving sony exclusivity, and the games we already knew about had features shown that were pretty cool. Natal is also pretty awesome in the fact that it can sense 3d space, unlike PS eye, and it's going to be integrated into the whole system/dash and can be patched into existing g...
GT sold so much because it had a 120 million console install base to work with.
Forza 3 could outsell GT just because of the 360 having more consoles to sell to.
AWESOME! NOW I HAVE NO REASON TO HAVE REAL FRIENDS ANYMORE!
The video editor feature looked interesting too, but the car customization will easily be what makes or breaks it.
that looks like it's the big selling point over GT5
I might have missed it, but are you sure they just didn't assume there would be updates because of valve's actions with previous games?
