Did great on the Xbox 360, and not so great on the PS3. What it sounds like to me is that they want to just concentrate on one platform. That way they get the technology going well, and gameplay at a premium level. Seeing as how the MT Framework is a multiplatform engine, it stands to reason that anything being done on the Xbox 360 could just as well be done on the PS3. Obviously you have development time issue and so forth. Again like most I believe it will be a timed exclusive. I guess the ...
So headed for a Holodeck future. Also I agree I don't think the next generation is coming anytime soon. I do believe that there will be technical leap beyond what current systems are doing now. All of the research that's been going on both in software and hardware development. You add in the maturing of new technologies that were released in recent years. I think where Nintendo got it right is creating a system that is innovative by putting the puzzle that is technology together. Doing so in ...
This was a pretty damn good interview. Look it's obvious that HHG is not a journalist, and his passion & instinct are his guide. If he's trying to get better everyday while he's growing his brand then that's all that counts.I mean everyone who has an issue with him, or believe they can do it better didn't get an exclusive with David Jaffe. In fact HHG just scooped damn near every gaming outlet out there with this hour long interview. You could easily see IGN, Eurogamer, Gamespot, etc like...
still remains that most of the impression that sales matter and should be treated like royalty has to be put on the backs of fanboys. In the case of the PS3 these fanboys have put so much pressure on every title that comes out, by over hyping every game. Comparing it to Xbox 360 titles, pushing the idea that a system is only worth it's salt based on exclusives. Games that show off a systems power. An idea that then starts an impression of some feigned dominance. Case in point all this hype ab...
Are not just based on sales. A game could just be horrible gamplay wise, and be a flop even if it sold well. Yet in the case of the PS3 it seems that we hear more hype and unfulfilled expectations. That isn't to say games have not sold, but the roar, and beating of the chest is what creates the impression. In the case of Xbox 360 games many are very good titles and happen to sell alot. You can look at software attach rates, sales charts, and reviews for evidence of this statement.
The franchises they are getting have clout. They need to be patient in delivering the titles. If they can really find teams from both the ranks of Eidos, and within SE that are good match creatively. Then maybe we will see a resurgence on some good classics. Legacy of Kain, and Tomb Raider for example.
This game does look better than the titles he's mentioned. Batman looks fantastic in this new generation incarnation. First game out the gate for these guys? Sure does not look like it. Impressive. Seeing as how it takes eons for the other guys to get games up on a so-called custom engine. I'll take the Unreal Engine 3 and games like this Batman every time. Beautiful...
Games on the PS3 look better than Xbox 360 games? I mean let's be honest here. Then people keep bringing up first party games? Some of which have taken years to create. Where's the proof? Let's look at how many titles from the PS3 have won GOTY for graphics this generation so far. Only MSG4 to my understanding. The PS3 is the machine that has to prove it's better than the Xbox 360. It's the system that was said to be the most powerful. In fact I've seen less PS3 games that actually look close...
Him get to you. The article was great, and just like the writer said. This is the game industry, no empire last forever. Which tells the tale of this generations last place holder.
Sega's game production and genius can't even be matched today. For every one great title developers release Sega was putting them out in droves. Both home and arcade. Many games today of course sell more, but none capture your imagination and set trends both technically and gameplay wise like Sega game...
I'm pretty sure that Bethesda has had conversations with Oblivion the original developers of Fallout. So they may have ideas for what where they would like to take the next one. It's also giving the title a different feel. Similar to how Square would do FF titles, having different teams work on it to keep it fresh. I believe we are going to be in for a treat, and this is one game where they can get the technology right without losing out worrying about IP tampering. Good move, very good move....
I was just hopping for another setting, and different focus. The crazy thing is I still have yet to finish the first game. Shocker...I know! Reason is my Xbox 360 conked out on me, and I let my friend hold it, and wound up selling it to him. Anyway point in all this is I'll be getting part one again, and this reminds me of too much. Hopefully also the gameplay in this sequel goes beyond the first as well.
Is cool, but I need gameplay, gameplay, and gameplay to tell the real tale. I trully want Versus to go in a new direction. I think it would do Square really good to have another "tent pole title" in the FF line of games. I plan on getting a PS3 later this year, so an exclusive like this would really make me feel like I have different purchase compared to the Xbox 360. I've played many a game on the PS3, and haven't been lulled into purchasing it for myself. So I'm hoping this year's...
Never looked at the price cut aspect and how the dollar vs Yen was affecting Sony. I did however see that Sony's focus on games was not there, and in a nutshell the writer hit the nail on the head on both aspects. Yeah those who have not read this blog post should because it is very well researched and written . I'll do a follow up on my blog on the game side, because I have some thoughts, and I'm inspired . Kudos to Kombo...
All about rpg's don't even think anything else out of the box than that. A Lost ODD 2 would be mega, along with any 3rd party titles as well. You have to admit the system has sold decently with rpg's this generation.
Has always been on Microsoft's agenda. I don't know if for gaming, but they have had patents in the area for years now. You can check the patent office online. Sony has also in some respect, it's just that they are both now starting to invest in the application of their versions of the respective technology. Microsoft buying a company that specializes in it gives them a leg up so they can cut down on R&D costs. Allowing them to focus on the software integration side with said company. I d...
