It does definitely seem to be a divisive game though. Gamers looking for something more in line with a hardcore shooter are walking away a bit disappointed.
Nothing quite like a good bullet-hell game. Might have to pick this up.
Not many people have talked about the lack of visual personalization. I'm glad this review does.
Ha. Definitely. I personally loved all three. So I hope you enjoy this as well. These smaller titles have to rely on finding that special something that will make them stand out. When they can't, it unfortunately leads to games no one plays. But when they manage to find it, that unique something, it makes for some really original, refreshing games.
And it only gets better from there. The original episodic release meant there was time for some pretty noticeable improvement and experimentation between each episode.
@Thunder_G0d_Bane As you said, you play RPGs for the story. The division should not get a pass for any reason when it comes to its story. But especially not just because of its genre. It's also an RPG.
Yet...
As far as lore goes, real-world doesn't neccissarily mean they couldn't do something interesting. I would love more of a backstory with the characters. Why would a reportedly normal guy like Joe Ferro suddenly turn and become the leader of a radical group of people burning the city? How? More of a backstory for the division itself even. How the governmental order was set up? What's happening in the rest of the world? All of that could be added and more the game's "lore&qu...
Definitely. There is no doubt about just how large of an impact Nintendo has had on the games industry overall.
In both the case of Super Mario and Wii Sports, they weren't the only titles in the series. Its the success of the series overall that is most important.
Yep. People sure do love the little guy. My bet is that its the mustache.
It was the extra stuff around it being a farming sim that caught my interest.
The truth is I've never played Harvest Moon or anything, the farming simulator genre just never really appealing to me. But this definitely sounds interesting. I might have to give it a try.
@jb227 More recent Telltale games like Tales From the Borderlands, have done a good job of pairing the tough decisions with an emotional intensity in the action segments as well. The opening of the Michonne was an excellent example of this, having the action not only feel and look fun, but also be emotional engaging.
Well-written and having interesting choices is absolutely a crucial part of the formula. But it takes that extra, admittedly incredibly difficult, step to really...
@jb227 For me, the slightly lower score comes from the fact that while very well done, overall the episode played it very safe. It delivered a pretty much by the books Walking Dead story. The fact it is on the water and delves into the psychology of Michonne and the tragedies that define her are good and interesting. But the greater narrative was still very in line with the series as a whole. Its not necessarily bad, but as the market becomes more saturated, it does take a bit more of a push ...
Unfortunately, I just never had the attachment to Braid that others did. The fact it was a platformer mixed with a puzzle game might have just been the wrong pairing at the time for me. In the same way I its the singular focus of The Witness that I see as one of its greatest strengths.
I appreciated how much the game does with so little. That strict adherence to every puzzle being drawing lines gives it a unique identity it wouldn't have otherwise.
And this doesn't even include the countless awesome indies that are in the pipeline. There's a lot to get excited about.
That's true. I've never played the persona games but am interested in Persona 5. With how little we have heard about the game recently though, it will be interesting to see when it actually gets released.
My only concern with DLC would be how it would fit into the game, and if it could maintain the same quality. The story is so unbelievably tight and well constructed, There just isn't anywhere I can see something easily being plugged in. And the story in the game is already so all-encompasing, I can't really think of where I would want a stand alone piece to add on. To be fair, I am totally on board for Remedy completely proving me wrong and doing an amazing job with DLC, but until the...
