I think you really hit the nail on the head. A lot of mistakes due to arrogance and not learning from them. I just don't see why it is so hard for these companies to learn from the past.

I happened to road trip through Pocatello Idaho last week. I'm not surprised they have slow internet. Nice place but pretty rural. Luckily, I'm in a big city and average over 12 mgb\second :)

Both companies are very capable and ready to to contribute to gaming. Apple already makes millions off mobile gaming each month.
I believe that competition between the major players will lead to better games. The person that benefits? The typical gamer.
Day 1 for me as well. I don't agree with play pass, But insomniac already said That they have no choice. Sony is making them do the play pass. I love the series, and Insomniac, too much to skip what is looking to be the best in the series.
Considering I am already planning on getting the title brand new, play pass doesn't really change anything for me in regards to this title.

Consoles sales typically dip during the summer. The big games of spring have passed and the rest of the big hitters are waiting for the all important Holiday season. A dearth of big releases very naturally results in lower console sales for the period.
I prophecy that sales will pick back up starting in late September.
Not a big deal for me. . I've been planning on canceling the disk portion of my Netflix for a while now because I so rarely think of the disks. I almost exclusively use the streaming aspect.
In some ways I do miss going to ye old rental store, but at the same time the convenience of streaming would be missed too if it suddenly disappeared.
When I sell my car, the buyer is getting it used and the manufacturer isn't getting a dime. Can you imagine if Ford, Mercedes, or Toyota complained about that? Can you imagine these companies building something into cars that made it difficult to buy used? They would get sued. `Sorry, the brakes only work if you buy new. Other than that you have to buy a Break Pass.'
So...why is it okay for game developers to complain about used sales and think they are somehow ma...

Mod tools are win/win for everyone. Those who aren't interested don't bother with them. Those that are create wonderful things for others to enjoy WITHOUT COST.

Complexity is the price of added features. The complexity can be a challenge, but I certainly wouldn't give up many modern features I love and enjoy solely in the name of simplicity.
Additionally, there are still plenty of simple games for those times you only want simple. Puzzle games, mobile apps, etc... Simple games and can be great fun.
What it needs is to come out so I can buy it!!!
This gen hasn't fully run it's course yet, but the time grows closer. Basically, from a financial point of view I'd like to see an Xbox 720 in late 2012 and a PS4 in 2013.

No. Kinect is decidedly for the casual market. The Wii showed that there is a casual market willing to buy consoles. Kinect is an effort to capture some of that market.
