The first sentence of this article speaks volumes - "since the release of the PS3 slim".
Now, there is an Xbox 360 slim, and most likely a price drop soon. So, considering the history of sales surges when a redesigned model is introduced, it's unlikely PS3 will continue to close the gap at even close to the same rate.
EDIT @ ShadowFlare - people have been begging MS to include built in wi-fi & bigger hard drives, and now they do. That will...
Yeah, the PS2 version of Hot Pursuit 2 was awesome. Still have it, still play it.
Funny how the PS2 version came out so much better than the Xbox version - different developers I guess. I originally bought it for Xbox, but I was extremely disappointed. Then I read some reviews and discovered that the PS2 version was superior, so I traded.
"He express his fanboyism in highest quality comedy"
So, it's OK as long as it's funny.
Sony loyalists are up in arms whenever Aaron Greenburg says something negative about Sony.
Sony hires an actor and pays him lots of $$$$ to make fun of the competition, and that is acceptable.
At least MS's PR department puts themselves on the line when they talk - Sony's PR dept. hides behind a paid actor.
There was noticeable delay in both the Sorcerer game and the Tiger Woods game. Wii, Kinect, & Move all have the same lag - it's clearly inherent to all motion controls.
It's funny how Sony loyalists defend Move's lag by saying the games are "still in development". Yet, for the last year, EVERY Kinect (Natal) video has been dissected frame by frame while the Sony loyalists scream "LAG, LAG, LAG". Where was the "still in development&...
HUGE lag on the Tiger Woods Move demo - very noticeable.
Funny how N4G went so quiet after the Sony conference.
I don't see what the problem is with the proprietary HDD. It's 250GB - how many people will ever need more than that?
I guess you're implying that it's better to need TWO machines to play the top games instead of just one.
EDIT @ captain-obvious - OK, if we add in GOW3, then PS3 has 2 of the top 4 console games (with one not playable on 360), and 360 still has 2 of the top 3 (with one not playable on PS3). It doesn't change what I replied to originally - that MS has somehow "lost" this year. By the way - the title of the article is "console" to beat.
Not nearly as sad and pathetic as the PS3 trolls rolling out the baseless "media bias" conspiracy theories yet again.
MS lost this year? That's why so far this year:
2 of the 3 highest rated games are playable on 360 (Mass Effect 2 & Red Dead Redemption).
1 is playable on Wii (SMG2).
1 is playable on PS3 (RDR) - and it's also on 360.
When it comes to the best of the best, the 360 IS the...
They throw money in the wrong places? Bioware is a third party developer, and they made the second-highest rated game of the year in Mass Effect 2.
If that's throwing money away, it's OK with me.
I don't think it lacked hardcore games - it's just that MS doesn't announce games years ahead of time like Sony does. Halo, Gears, Fable - those are MS's big three, and they were all present. Those are the games that have proven to move software AND hardware.
To the contrary, Sony last year at E3 announced Agent & Last Guardian as exclusives. A full year has passed, and still no gameplay exists of either game, let alone a release date.
The Sony fanboys here really make me laugh. Before E3, they were predicting MS would use celebrities to hype their conference and distract people from the games.
Now, the reaction is "How boring - all they showed were games".
EDIT @ below - you really think MS has been quiet all year long? Alan Wake, & Splinter Cell have already released. Crackdown 2 is weeks away. Halo Reach & Fable 3 later this year. That's hardly "quiet&quo...
They announced the new 360 would be the same price as the current elite - even showed them side by side in the video.
Did you guys watch the same press conference?
DWeezy says MS was more than willing to price the new 360; jaredhart says they had problems giving the price.
Kinect is 5 months away - the new 360 ships tomorrow. I'd say it's a little more important to price the new 360 than it is to price Kinetic.
For MS to sell 5 million, it needs to be priced aggressively. I think the $150 rumor is untrue.
Of course, if Natal is bundled with a slim 360, MS can easily sell 5 million of those bundles. This would give Natal a good size user base, and make it attractive for developers to produce games.
As far as customization goes, most race cars are customized in real life. Nascar cars (a big selling point of GT5) are painted with new logos nearly every week promote everything from cat food to the new summer blockbuster.
In most racing categories, the beautiful cars are slapped with sponsor logos on every square inch that can accomodate them. Having customization in a game allows players to accurately simulate real life racing circumstances.
Maybe we need more people like those in Sony's PR department. They spent $$$$ on a Kevin Butler commercial specifically designed to promote Move by making fun of & bad-mouthing Natal.
There's plenty of shame to go around on BOTH sides. Too bad there are so many people who think "it's OK as long as it's funny".
The original Xbox was supported for 7 years, even though MS stopped making them after 4 years. Xbox was introduced in 2001, and it's last game - Madden 09 - was released in 2008.
With 360 still going strong after nearly 5 years, and with some of the biggest exclusives still to come, 360 will EASILY have a 10 year life cycle.
Not to mention the Tiger Woods games - especially '10 & '11.
The Wii-mote really lends itself perfectly to golf games. I love the Wii Sports golf, even though it's too short. Wii Sports Resort adds more depth to golf, but Tiger Woods outshines the 360/PS3 versions because the Wii-motion plus control is so good.
No surprise to me. Good Xbox 360 news ALWAYS brings out swarms of PS3 trolls attempting damage control.
$18 trade credit for a 512 MB memory card? I bought mine for $5 on clearance last year.
MS memory is expensive, but if this is real, I'll gladly sell my 512 MB card for $18. I can buy a 4GB USB drive, to supplement my 20GB hard drive, for that price.
