You're right. But, it's worth noting that the 360's price drops were spread over 4 years while PS3's were spread over just 3.
That's because 70% of the "people" here are actually just one (very bitter) person with multiple accounts.
The irony is that he complains because he thinks people are buying multiple 360's & inflating the install base, yet here he is with his multiple accounts trying to make it seem like more people actually share his views.
You really are a moron. Read your comment again. You are just another mindless, brain-dead, "MS is evil" conspiracy theorist who thinks the console banning is just a sales stunt. There is no shortage of you idiots on N4G.
Your "arguement" actually contains the words "I imagine". That should be a red flag to anyone who might consider taking you seriously.
What "incriminating evidence"? All you have are crazy conspiracy theories - which by definition contain absoluetly NO proof or evidence.
You just want to believe that this was some kind of sales stunt so you'll have an excuse in case the 360 outsells the PS3.
"If you saw the original and were always curious to try it out, then by all means get the sequel. It is, without a doubt, the better game."
Not to mention "advancements" and "additions", while remaining "familiar", in the quote that that you pointed out.
The only thing that's proven & backed up in quotes is that 9/10 seems like just the right score for L4D2.
"Publicity stunt to increase sales"? Hardly. Since September, the 360 has 3 big exclusives (Halo 3:ODST, Forza 3, & Left 4 Dead 2), not to mention Modern Warfare 2, possibly the biggest game release ever (which will be much bigger on 360 than PS3).
MS doesn't need stunts - they have the games to sell the systems.
Just no end to the conspiracy theories on N4G.
EDIT @ below - what's your point? Shooters or not, they are system selli...
The conspiracy theories just never stop.
Yeah, during the worst recession since 1929, millions of people spend $200-$300 on a new 360 instead of waiting a couple of weeks for a free repair.
Unfortunately, there is no reliable independent tracking service in Europe like the U.S. has with NPD.
You can either believe MS, Sony, both, or neither. The truth is generally found somewhere in the middle.
Of course, a website that has two grammatical errors in the first paragraph should send up some red flags as to it's own reliability.
Not to mention that NPD for October tracked just 5 days of Forza 3 sales, not a full week. 175,000/5 = 35,000 per day. Add 2 more days to that number and you come up with 245,000 - although the true number is probably slightly less than that because 6th & 7th day sales are most likely a little less than first or second day sales.
Multiple accounts? Come on, is that the best you can do?
The biggest multiple account offender on N4G is Nasim/PorcelainGod/Walther/Jos uttis/Booch etc., and he is a PS3 fanboy.
EDIT :If there are so many "bots" with multiple accounts, where are my bubbles? As a fellow 360 fan, why haven't these mystery people bubbled me up while they de-bubble you guys, as you claim?
Look at any Halo or Forza article and see how many PS3 fans are there, as opposed to 360 fans in an article about the PS3. It's not even close.
@ultimolu - I don't know how many times I can repeat the same thing over and over, but since you don't seem to understand, I'll try again. When I say something negative about PS3, it's ALWAYS in response to someone posting what I believe to be false information, lies, or just plain stupidity. I NEVER throw the first punch. Go ahead...
You may have recently changed your ways, but it doesn't excuse your previous comments. Based on most of your comments up until the last week or so, you deserved to lose bubbles. Defending Peter North isn't going to win you any points either - he has contributed exactly NOTHING useful to N4G ever. He should have zero bubbles.
I have two suggesstions to improve N4G:
1)Eliminate the open zone. It's just a breeding ground for stupidity. Nothing meaningful ever c...
Of course GT5's "demo" has such high sales - it's all you've got in that genre. Buy it, or don't have a racing sim. If Turn 10 decided to wait 5 years between releases, and put out "Forza Prologue" in between, it would sell well to starved racing sim fans also. Fortunately, 360 owners don't have to settle for $40 "demos" - we get super high quality FULL sims every 2 years.
The fact that it is winning awards a year before it's release clearly means there is a LOT more to Natal than what most people see on Youtube. The people who are actually witnessing it's capabilities first hand are obviously very impressed.
I can't wait to try it for myself and form my own opinion after I've actually played it.
The best number that I can find shows Forza 3 selling 131,000 between November 1 and November 7. So, for it's first 12 days, Forza 3 has sold 306,000 in the US. That's an average of 25,500 per day - still WAY ahead of GT5P's pace.
I do see your point. Actually, I don't even really care about Uncharted's numbers - I only mentioned it because it was released the same month as Forza 3.
To be fair, I will try to find Forza 3 sales numbers for the next week or so in order to bring it into the same timeframe as GT5P. But, in that regard, the gap is so big that even if I average out Forza 3's numbers with the next week figured in, I seriously doubt it will lower the average enough to change my original hypoth...
Uh, exactly where do you see me multiplying out days of sales?
My comment was comparing Uncharted 2's first 19 days, GT5P's first 14 days, and Forza 3's first 5 days - nothing more. I made no claims or predictions as to future sales of Forza 3 or Uncharted - I simpy put each game in perspective with regards to available sales information.
To all the morons laughing at Forza 3's sales numbers:
Forza 3 sold 175,000 which equals 35,000 per DAY (released 10/27).
Uncharted 2 sold 537,000 which equals 28200 per DAY (released 10/13).
For even more perspective, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (released April 17, 2008) sold 224,000 in it's first 14 days according to NPD. That equals 16,000 per day.
@Saaking 1.7 - so, 71,000 is "nearly" 100,000?? On what planet?
...
As a classic coin-op fan, it is good to see Ms. Pac-man & Galaga being the top two coin op games on the list. I would have put Donkey Kong before either of those however - but that's just my opinion.
If I was stranded on an island and had to choose three games to have with me, those would be the three. Nearly 30 years old, yet they have nearly unlimited replay-ability.
Amazingly, all three classics were released in 1981. Add in Frogger, Tempest, & Cent...
