Such as?
They're trying to avoid the obvious. This isn't dragon age anymore.
2 is my favourite for 2 reasons. Companions were all incredible...it's where we got varric after all.
And the events after each act actually have meaning. Sure the end state doesn't vary much but the storytelling surrounding each act ending as well as the possible outcomes is magnificent. I won't get into spoilers but loved that about the 2nd. I'm willing to have my mind changed but I've yet to encounter anyone able to tell me specifically what was so ho...
Huh?
Okay in terms of story and choices as well as outcomes and character progression and writing...origins does it better.
In terms of combat decisions, diversity in encounters and strategies as well as meaningful power progression and itemization...origins does it better
In terms tone...that's more a preference...I'm not a fan of the change in direction....prefer dark fantasy and gore that origins brought.
I...
In what way is the combat and build diversity good?
Devil may cry has the style meter that encourages good combat. It also has enemy variety...veilgaurd doesn't. Veilgaurds builds are pretty much non-existent. The itemization is boring due to its extreme linearity.
As far as lore goes...I guess you're fine with them butchering the qunari.
So the long and the short of it is...no
Only for those with tremendously low standards and/or who are trying to push an agenda into gaming.
I'm thinking it's really just the former...that's what I hope anyways.
In no way, shape or form does this game come even remotely close to the nearest galaxy far away from dragon age origins or dragon age 2 for that matter.
If the game had stayed true to its origins then it would've probably made number 1 for its first week
Irresponsible reviewers pointing fingers at irresponsible reviewers. It's a joke.
Not my problem or yours. Let people do what they want. They have a voice too even if you disagree. As long as they aren't breaking the law all is good in my book.
If reviews are just "opinions" then everyone is entitled to one.
Absolutely. It would be great to put the review bombing argument to rest with that type of confirmation.
Not true. It all depends on bloated budgets. They choose to overspend on games and then we still get crap 75% of the time.
And that's not confirmation bias...this is the dragon age IP...it should sell well. But based on its political speech in game it can set many people off and therefore we can gauge how aware the people interested in the IP are...I'm more curious about refunds on steam.
We already know that if it doesn't sell well there'...
Which is exactly why individuals need to look at people they trust that align with what they like in games ....so far instance if people that loved previous dragon age games hate this one...that's very telling.
As even positive reviews have pointed out...this isn't dragon age anymore.
I would also suggest maybe not claiming everyone else is an "average" consumer. In this internet setting it's not a smart thing to assume.
...
Do you read the reviews? There's so many negative positive reviews in there...it's confusing. I'm thinking some reviewers are too focused on the writing part and are missing the scoring part. It's weird.
I've seen both....it's the news. N4g doesn't write it.
Many already know that the game will have some bad press after the honeymoon early period begins to fade. I've been watching let's plays online a lot because I love this IP and was hoping people were exaggerating...unfortunately although there's an intense focus on the political everything else is just worse than previous games in every way. By a lot.
At least that's been ...
Modern gaming. And it does reek.
Probably just selective. Dragon age received positive reviews while wukong was attacked at different points during its entire production time, including previews.
Concurrent players are important for multiplayer games not single player titles...why bring up concurrent for this type of game as a metric for success? Sales is a much better metric.
@mkis007
That's not really the case. People will gravitate towards what they have critiqued to be better. It also depends on the individuals level of scrutiny.
It isn't just random. People listen to the reviews or read them and are very critical on what is said, not said, brought up, etc.
Absolutely a big impact on PlayStation but I'd say leadership is the key factor. When leadership changes so does the studio. Leadership is so important for the counties success of a developer.
