I dont really think you understand the situation.
Its on a per game basis. Any dev, even PC devs, can make it where their game has to call back home. They do it now with online passes. You have to enter a code to play online with even new games.
........... They have surely made their R&D money back from this engine.
But why didn't these "opionated articles" come out in full force when Sony said the same.... "We're gonna leave it up to the developers". No doom and gloom blogs, not a peep. But the other guy says it, and we get "it could get ugly for all parties"!!!!!!!! Why did this even get approved?

But Sony showed another Killzone, another infamous, another racing game, a platformer (looked good), a weird media molecule game, a bunch of 3rd party games that will also be on the next xbox (and pc), a tech demo, and they talked about concepts that aren't even working yet, but they "hope" to have them soon.

Its going to be up to the publishers. They will implement always online and "upgrade", in a way, their online passes even for single player games. Many have hinted at it already

I would really like a Dark Turtle game with different story arcs for each Turtle. Shredder is a real Bad @$$ that you fight more than once. Splinter is dead/killed. Some real "ninja" sections. Just something different.

If someone does a Star Wars game it probably needs to be an RPG type game, but I'm not sure about leveling. There needs to be Space combat not on rails, which I guess you could level up the enterprise. There needs to be dialogue in the realm of what Bioware can do. Say the wrong things to the Romulans and war can actually break out, things like that.
A good game is doable, but it would take alot of dedication.
