Smart-glass is the response to Wii-U controller, it really is an smart move knowing everyone has an smartphone, so there are no add-ons to buy in order to use it, I hope for sony that they're considering the same with PSMobile, because the Vita will not cut it.
Transfer Gamer-tag + achievements and also X360 BC and they can call it a day.

This is exactly what Vita has the U-controller cannot replicate, being a separate system, it can be used anywhere with an internet connection, so it'd be awesome to play a game on your PS3 @ home and then keep going with it in another place.
This kind of functionality is way ahead of its time though, wi-fi and ISPs don't allow it atm, but in the future could be the standard.

you pointed out what's wrong with these PS3<->Vita connectivity thing, in order to use your Vita with your PS3 game, you need a patch, sure First Parties can do it, but you can't expect every game to get a patch in order to use it with Vita.
And even then, a PS3+Vita is more expensive than a Wii-U
Though one of the guys in the PSMobile community did it already

This model was supposed to be revealed @ GamesCom, but there was to much remaining stock of current Slim V1, they know how many untis are in stores and don't need to worry about demand.
LBP wasn't and never will be big in Japan, unless MH makes a comeback to Vita and SE makes an *exclusive* FF game for it, sales will not change, Vita, while being a great product, it can't compete with 3DS and the new market of smartphones and tablets.
tl,dr -> 3DS is the only system doing well in Japan by a long shot (+60k), second is PSP (-20k) and then PS3 (-15k), Vita is selling worst below -9k x week, no way Sony meet its sales expectations this year.
Sony has experience in gaming, but not so much in the digital space, they bought Gaikai and lets see the results first before claiming a winner.
I hope they (Sony) get over this, I don't want them to go down, this gen became pretty good for the simple fact that companies were "forced" to *compete* and that's a win for gamers, IF Sony really goes down, I'll have MS or Nintendo for my gaming needs, but the more companies fighthing for my bucks, the best for me.

I don't agree with Hatsune-M but he has a point, recent rumor says the Wii-U GPU is 4 times more powerful than the X360 GPU, it should be notorious, I know the console is getting up-ports and stuff, but Nintendo should have at least 1 game that showcase the power and shut up the doubters.
I don't know how it works, I read somewhere that SCEA doesn't want the 12GB model, since they work independently of SCEE and SCEJ <-> SCEI, they ask what models they want, maybe it's just that the Euro branch wants to test and see how it works first, then the SCEA could follow, but it's a mess
Also, I'm sure people don't care about bigger HDD space, so the "sense" of better/more value doesn't work anymore, I'm sure people would ...
2014 is too late, by that time, the Wii-U will be 2 years in the market with a big userbase and Devs would use it as lead platform for development, so every HW advantage will be useless for non First Party Devs.

I think they kind of gave up, they can't do Anything, there is nothing MS or Sony can do to avoid people buying the U, price-cuts would have helped, but that didn't happen from Sony's part, nothing is known from MS either, but even then, U Black model preorders are @ full just in days and I'm sure White model stock will be limited, everything will be sold out when it's released

It doesn't depend on anyone but those who will make games for it, IF it sells like the wii and by being and HD system it has the chance of getting all third parties on board, becoming the defacto HW for developers and leaving XBX3+PS4 with ports.
