Um... okay... so if people want to "sell their used games higher than $5," they should select the console that forces them to use "authorized/participating retailers" (eg GameStop).
But if they want GameStop to "f**k them over all the time," they should select the console that lets them sell at their own price via Amazon/eBay/Craigslist/whereve r they want?

So true. I've been browsing the Xbox forum to get a feel of the Xbox community's take, and there are a few that still insist that will be the case. There's even someone trying to parse the MS PR-speak down to the level of "this statement re: MS Studios games says 'give,' but this part re: 3rd parties says 'gift,' so they're TOTALLY DIFFERENT!" (claiming MS 1st parties won't have restrictions, trying to pretend that the baked-in DRM isn't DRM) ...
Was pleased to find out yesterday that my local GS still had launch day preorders available, since I lagged and missed out on Amazon. Put down $100 and $5 on KZ:SF (figured that would go over better with the wife than $460 on something I won't get for five months).
Gaming since NES, and this will be my first "Day 1" console. Whee. :D
>>Lastly you will be able to have a "circle" of friends, 10 people to be exact, that will be able to access your game library from anywhere in the same region
Everything else aside, this looks to be a pretty nice feature... so long as it's not just a bait and switch to try to make up for all the bad PR they've been getting. Remember that PS3 had the same thing with five different machines and ended up reducing it to two machines (or is it three?), so w...

So if I sell a game I'm finished with on Ebay, and then that buyer sells it on Ebay when they're done with it, their buyer will be able to pop it into the Xbone and play it?
If the answer is anything but "yes," I believe that would pretty clearly fall under the definition of "blocking used games."
"You cannot have game and MARKETING BUDGETS this high..."
Hmmmmmm..... then don't?
I'd love to see how these ridiculous arguments would have played out sixty years ago.
Hasbro statement: "When you buy the game Clue, you are buying a license to use the product. The paper/cardboard in the box is only a delivery medium for the IP that is printed on the medium, to which Hasbro retains all rights of resale. By selling/purchasing a used copy of Clue, you are taking money that rightly belongs to Hasbro developers and placing it in the hands of used toy re...
Xbone also has:
Mandatory Kinect
Mandatory net connection
Non-upgradeable hard drive
Lesser GPU
Slower memory
Less useable memory (5GB vs 7GB)
Proprietary headphone jack
"Advertising! Advertising! Advertising!" (channeling Balmer)
$100 higher base price
$10 higher online service
BTW, PS4 has similar video cap as the Xbone has with Twitch.
And I'd be pretty apprehensi...
"We believe the digital world is the future, and we believe digital is better."
I'm confused... did the 360 actually take miniature vinyl or something? CDs/DVDs/BluRays ARE DIGITAL.
As so many have already said... you want to phase out the disc, you need to make the download version cheaper. Make it so you need the disc in the drive to play if the disc is installed to the HDD. As so many have already said... give consumers a real incentive to go...
>> like giving away free games just like xb announced they will be doing?
Free this month for XBL
Halo 3: Sept 2007
Assassin's Creed 2: Nov 2009
Free this month for PS+
XCOM Enemy Unknown: Oct 2012
Uncharted 3: Nov 2011
(that's just the full retail games. other indie games free as well)
And if I recall correctly, they said XBL will only get those two free games a month UNTIL the Xbone laun...
@fuzzy: Are you really trying to take a dig at the PS3/PS4 for heat dissipation? Really?
I won't even touch that... it's just too easy.
Yeah, we don't get "features" like 8GB of RAM gimped to 5GB for a bloated triple OS, or a weaker GPU, or a spycam that for some reason can be "turned off" (via software... yeah that's secure) but not unplugged (odd that), or the "privilege" of waving our arms (though the functionality of the new PScam is yet to be detailed) and talking to our TVs (I f'ng hate talking to electronics), or a proprietary headphone jack, or a non-upgradeable hard drive, or...
I'm not happy about it or necessarily agree with it, but I've had PS+ since it's launched and it's paid for itself many times over just in the free indie games, never mind the free "retail" games (working my way through inFamous 2 right now... and XCOM is free today, which isn't an RPG, but might be more up your alley), and I had no plans on cancelling it any time soon.
>>The PSN which most people would agree is only barely tolerable as a f...
PS+ has absolutely nothing to do with DRM (aside from the free games you get with PS+). Even if you don't pay for PS+, you're still connecting to the same PSN when your console is online.
They don't need to verify if your copy is legit or that you're not cheating because you need custom firmware to pirate or cheat, and custom firmwares can't connect to PSN anyway (unless that's been surmounted).
And I'm guessing PS3 will still be f...
Okay, that clip is obviously chopped and played with... but the booing after the Xbone price announce sounds legit. Yet in the official feeds, there's applause (after a couple seconds pause). Was the applause just dubbed into the outgoing video stream? Does anyone have a link to a video that's not the official feed?
Looks like it's standard 1/8" (3.5mm)... but it might be a 2.5mm jack... which is still relatively common.
Dammit... why oh why did I put it in my cart this morning, and not click "check out" until now?
Let's see how long it takes to get my "item available" email.
Damn you and your 0% Amazon tax. They buckled last year and started adding tax to all California purchases (even though I preordered before it went into effect, it shipped after it went into effect, and they added the tax retroactively).
Anyone know where I can preorder a PS4 that won't apply California sales tax?
The "rumor" is based on an actual photograph of someone servicing an Xbone kiosk, and you can see that it's a tower PC inside the cabinet with a GeForce card.
I bet next time they don't use them fancy towers with the plexiglas windows.
