And it will be good for playing all the HD-DVD's I own. I mean, this is great news for BR (I own a ps3, too), but seriously, there are still exclusives for each side, and as such you can't watch everything unless you own both. That won't change overnight, not by a long shot.

But kudos to BR.

Another Con: Pricetag

I bought a ps3 around Xmas time, and I currently own 1 game for it (ut3), and 5 blu-ray movies. Yes, movies are cheaper... but honestly, there are no games out there right now screaming for me to buy them. Between Call of Duty 4, Guitar Hero III for the 360 and Super Mario Galaxy... I honestly really just wanted it as a blu-ray player.

That's the headline from Gizmodo.

Honestly - if all you can complain about is the MCE issue, you are focusing on a very very small issue. You can still play all of the DivX files, just click on "Videos", hit "X" and change the source to your computer. Look in your shar...

You assume incorrectly. I just don't like racing games! Why is that so hard to believe?

6759d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I also do not like racing games.

However the best racing game ever was Super Mario Kart. NOT the 64 edition. Everything after that has just sucked. :)

Microsoft has NEVER claimed it was 33%. That rumor got started on the inter-tubes from some game store manager article, and the fanbois just ran with it and took it as gold. MS has so much to admitted that there is an issue by extending the warranty to 3 years on this problem. However, they have always stated that while the figures are too high to be acceptable, that it is nowhere near 33%.

Honestly - stop using the 33% like it is fact. In truth, nobody knows what it is. You c...

While I'm sure it will benefit some people to store their divx/xvid files on the ps3's HDD, is this REALLY that much of a huge difference? All of my Divx files are on my PC. It's pretty easy to just hit the "power" button on the 360 or ps3 and stream from the network.

For me (personally), I see no need to be able to put the files on my gaming machines.

If developers or other things can use it, great! But who is to say that the 360 games couldn't use it...

This is something that MS has been doing for a while now after they acquired Massive.

Face it - banners are everywhere now - during your youtube clip, in your video game, on your coke cup.... Talk about a saturated market.

This isn't really directed to you, but to everyone that throws that 30% failure rate around like it's gospel. So a few store managers say it, and all of a sudden it's true? Just because the fanboys on one side or the other use it all the time, now everyone seems to think it's right.

Show me PROOF that your 33% failure rate is even close, and I'll buy you a cookie and eat my words.

Considering the fact that the 360 has a larger game library, it would sort of make sense you have more games not running at whatever resolution you deem HD (whether it's 720 or 1080).

I don't see anyone complaining that COD4 doesn't run at "true HD", in fact I see it being a contender for game of the year.

So really, throw any sort of "I have a larger pixel count than you" out the window, as it's proven to not matter unless you are a fanboy.

And I'm too busy playing CoD4 and Halo3 on my xbox to care...

You should have used an exclusive game in your post, would have been a better "dig" at the original poster.

Paramount said it sold 190,000 of Transformers, but NPD puts that number lower at 115,000. Let's split it down the middle.

So, Sony says it sold 130,000 ... let's wait till we have some NPD numbers. Right now you aren't comparing apples to apples.

Obviously you don't visit the forum all that often, or you just don't get much out of it. It's their insiders thread - that's the only thread in which Amir posts practically. He and a few HD-DVD "insiders" (read, professionals)as well as BR insiders (Paidgeek, TalkStr8t) give their thoughts/insights into questions posed by readers. It's basically just a bunch of talking heads from both camps, but interesting none the less.

N4G is much worse than what they shut down avsforum for. If AVS mods were over here, I think they'd shut the entire site down.

avsforum.com just proved that it's above the flame baiters and format nerds. It's a site dedicated to ADULT conversation. Something N4G is sorely lacking.

He works for Microsoft for heaven's sake. What do you want him to go say: "I love this PS3 - everyone should go buy one."

So I'm just not sure where you get off on sounding all "high and mighty" and so "fair and balanced". It's a company, trying to push a product and catering to its fan base. Nothing new here, just common business practice.

If you plug in a 1080i source into your precious 1080p tv, you're going to see a 1080p signal. Your tv de-interlaces the signal and present it to you in it's native resolution. What you see on screen will look just the same as if you plugged in a 1080p soure.
