Wii is losing market share, but it still has as much as 360 and PS3 combined.
oohWii...
You had me until you start defending fanboy trolls...namely Omega.
The issue for many is not that the technology is OLD, but the results are OLD - We're seeing much of the same games from EyeToy. Butt hurt or not, you are going to hear people - fanboys and regular gamers alike - questioning Kinect's practicality just like we did EyeToy.
Again, defending Omega is just DUMB.
Well...I just like to follow this crap. It is cool technology. I don't take it personal...but you are right as well as others. I'm naturally more excited for the Move as a controller as a gamer.
I'm excited for Kinect, because I honestly think it is the future. In 2070 we'll have holodecks kid connected to computers playing matches of Starcraft with actual starcraft near Jupiter. NBA 2K60 with Klingons who hoop it up.
Hey than kinda rhyme...
Wonder why they called it Gorilla Nation? I was expecting a Grod/Superhumanite/Planet of the Apes type theme. Are the robots attacking homeboy supposed to be simian?
"I think the future is about having a complete hands-free solution for the living room."
Not. Hands-free solution is focusing on the product, not the customer's needs. Casuals and hardcore alike won't be won over by a lack of an actual controller.
I'd rather wait for the Holodeck.
Move for hardcore games is the foot in the door for Sony. Hardcore gamers are more likely to play casual games than casual gamers are likely to play hardcore. Get them to pick up Move and they'll become the best product endorsers because. We have to see if this works, but I'm betting it will.
What I think will likely happen is that Move will become widely adopted for FPS at first and then players will go back to the traditional controllers if multiplayer becomes un...
Like Kinect's Amazon pre-orders were evidence it could outsell Move, eh?
Still most of us already knew this. Even more don't care. It is like arguing if the PSEye sells more that the 360Cam...really.
Kinect is no more a game changer than Guitar Hero/Rock Band's guitar controller. It just has slightly more games and types of experiences available for it.
Move is different because it can be used in place of a controller in limited instances, but it won't be a game changer either.
This doesn't mean you can't enjoy either one Omega. Just don't let your 360-green MS thong show.
CORRECT ANSWER: STARCRAFT II.
The game is a national sport in South Korea, and has been anticipated for a decade. It has strong marketing and most of all...looks sick.
But I know this contest is between Sony and Microsoft fanboys. Saleswise anything could happen, it is a battle tween GT5 and Reach this fall. Don't count either one out. As far anticipation...well even 360 fanboys talk about how long GT5 is taking.
Motion controls and racing don't make sense to me. Ideally every racing game would use a wheel not motion control.
"Kinect will have 3 games to sell over 1million maybe 3"...
Fanboyism aside, I think you'll be right on this merely because it is bundled. Due to price, it won't sell 3 million for 2010 - maybe 2010 and 2011 combined.
There will be millions who jumped at the Wii who won’t jump at Kinect or Move for exactly the reasons the author mentions, but there will be millions more who will make that leap. Both companies’ are full of MBA grads who should know how to model prices, and they take into account the opinion and rationale of many individuals and households. One man’s opinion and experience won’t define the market potential of either system regardless of how much he and his family matches the target audience...
next year, Spring.
Gawd!! I loved Flashback...but I never finished it.
One of my roommates in college had it our Sophomore year. I went the summer thinking I'd play it again Fall semester, but last minute he transferred to IU. We had rented a house and everything.
I would love to have that on PSN. On XBLA per chance, hmm?
Thanks.
That makes a lot more sense.
Yeah, technology appears more similar to Move than Kinect. I don't know if Kinect can track objects other than your body like that, especially when you are sitting down. Still it adds very little to the game play; it's like a poor man's Move.
Kudos for the guy trying though, but I see Kinect more for classic shooters like we're going to see with Children of Eden. I'm sure that the Kinect and 360 will have some hardcore games in the future, but ironicall...
Nobel laureautes get awards for coming up with the same ideas and discoveries. Why not the same for Sony and Nintendo? Both controllers are the next logical step in the evolution of motion controls, not Kinect I promise you. That's why both have them.
Personally, the similarities between Move and the Wii are good things for the Move rather than bad. As a controller most casuals and core gamers will find it readily accessible. There are likely to be games made for b...
Again, I say most of the criticisms you have for Move are just as or more applicable to Kinect:
Currently, Kinect games are similar to those of the Wii and EyeToy. While Dance Central is the most innovative title so far, it is not much of a leap from playing DDR. It is not a game changer, nor a killer app. It is no better an example of new experiences than several of the games we’ve seen for Move that you casually dismissed – no pun intended.

I think motion controls will be up front and center come next generation of gaming. EyeToy was a gimmick, but Wii has validated motion controls. I think Move will cement it for the hardcore. The device is not a gimmick, but a viable alternative to play games we already know and love.
Kinect is wasted on gaming where its capabilities appear greatly limited. I hope will become ubiquitous outside of gaming as an input device. I envision a number of real-world consumer uses fo...
