Interesting, this time I'm not sure there will be a crisscross coming after PS4's holiday season comes into play. However...this is 2016 for the PS4 I believe. 2017 was the PS4's best selling year. The Switch will need an even better 2020 to ensure it keeps the lead.
Who knows what will happen. I'm surprised it's this competitive.
You only play games that make an appearance at the game awards? How sad.
Also, Astral Chain, Links Awakening, Super Mario Maker 2, Yoshi's Crafted World, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Fire Emblem Three Houses were all nominated
You can't name a single Switch game that came out this year? Really?
Well, Nintendo said themselves that they want the switch to have a longer lifecycle than other Nintendo home consoles, and their portable consoles have freakishly long lifecycles (Gameboy was like 12 years).
But, all in all I agree. It's not necessary right now. Though id probably buy it if it came out, just like I bought the PS4 Pro
Woah, based on these estimates Switch just beat PS4s peak year (which was 2017). That's impressive. Time will tell if it can keep it up over the distance, though.
Nintendo had the highest rated exclusives this year, the most exclusive titles released this year, the most games released this year (both in sheer amount and in quality of game releases, according to metacritic), and they sold the most consoles. By just about all metrics, objectively, Nintendo was first.
The Switch carts are getting cheaper and cheaper as the years go buy (for publishers to use that is), so hopefully we see more publishers use them. I'd like a KH collection on Switch and I know that a big reason why it isn't on there is the storage.
I wonder what the 3DS/PS4/Switch split is? I'm assuming it's 3DS=PS4 > Switch. 3DS had a better launch in Japan but also wasn't available in the west like the PS4 version.
Great numbers for Dragon Quest though! I wonder how it's done in the west.

So most adults have responsibilities that prevent them from gaming at home, so they don't want to game elsewhere?
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
The Switch isn't only for children.
N64 really innovated this generation both hardware wise and software wise, but PS1 was just too popular. I still enjoy the N64 for what it offered (Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 are still some of my favorites), but the PS1 had much more varied games. Always wondered what would have happened if N64 would have used disks instead.
Poor Saturn though. Had some gems but, ultimately, left in the dust behind both of the other two. Can't wait for that Panzer Dragoon Remake.
Wow, that's pretty remarkable. I think that this is one of the best black Friday weeks for any Nintendo console ever.
"the game looks more like an N64/Gamecube game, I'll be more accurate next time."
The games graphics aren't great for a switch game, but this is essentially a troll. The game looks better than a GameCube game, or a Wii game for that matter. To even attempt to make the claim that it looks like an N64 game is ludicrous. Quit spreading your vitriol around, it isn't constructive.
I think just one was (Tropical Freeze). I can't think of any others that were
I feel like your reply was irrelevant to his comment. He doesn't even mention Pokemon.
Also, Pokemon Sword/Shield aggregated an 81% on Meta. That isn't a 9-10/10.
Pokemon Colosseum does not look better than Sword and Shield.

Neither one of those two games deserve user scores that low.
I thought that wasn't legal to do? I thought that any product that was launched to the public was eligible to be reviewed, and embargos are only valid for dates before the release date.
I haven't played Death Stranding, but I feel like they are opposite ends of the coin.
MGSV: very much gameplay focused. Cut out traditional MGS storytelling. Provides freedom as to direction as to how you play.
Death Stranding: very much story oriented. Specific unique gameplay that isn't so much open ended as it is grounded.
I thought BotW was game of the decade?
Edit: Oops NVM. BotW was game of the decade by critics. TLoU was game of the decade by users.
