I already have a BC capable PS3; however, I still want BC to return so that when I buy my 2nd PS3 I won't have to have a PS2 next to it.

Why would you buy another unreliable console when the one you have already fulfills it's purpose? Getting an extra PS3 also means another Bluray/DVD player to put somewhere else in your house. A 360 isn't really worth, tell your brother to really read up on the pros/cons so he makes the right choice (PS3).

NO, you don't get anything out of it and in fact I'd rather not have an avatar at all. Unless they have some use they're not worth it. Instead of selling these cloths, they should be rewards for getting achievements and trophies. For example get a certain achievement in GeOW to unlock a COG costume etc.
I bought my PS3 for $499 and think about it. The 360 is almost as cheap as the PS2 which has been on the market for almost 10 years. That's gotta say something about MS. They can't sell the xbox unless it's cheap.
I got an HDMI cable for around 50 cents and it works great.

I look at it more the other way around. Sony is tipping Microsoft's hand. MS knows that the only thing keeping the PS3 behind is it's high price and they know that a price-cut will make sales of the PS3 go through the roof.
