MS already tried owning and managing gamestudios in the xbox and xbox360 era.
They concluded doing it was not as profitable as they would hope. So they closed down or let go many. They thought that they could easlily make more profit and did not see it as an investment in advertising your console.

But MS unlike SONY failed in management (bungie and fables maker ninja gaiden etc etc)
MS seemed to eventaully choose not to invest and save that money. So maybe MS is making the same profit as SONY is . It does cost a lot.
And selling 15. Million less consoles would probably be about making 1 billion less profit.

For those who don’t know, Hideo Kojima and Guerilla Games are working together on Decima Engine. A different version of the same engine was used to develop Horizon Zero Dawn.
The collaboration [with Guerilla Games] started later…. The teaser we showed at E3 was in a different engine. Guerrilla Games had the right engine. Their engine is well suited to the tools and systems of an open-world game. This was a very important aspect.
Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid and the man currently working on Death Stranding with Sony, has successfully run some tests on his latest game using the Decima Engine.
Posting on his social media account, Hideo Kojima mentioned that he can have a good night’s sleep after seeing the test results. From the looks of it, whatever tests he ran held a higher level of importance considering his reaction to the whole matter.

IMO :no!!...4K does not give the game 50% added positive game experience. but HDR does have a bigger impact than 4K.
A 4K TV screen within games just gives you the option to pause while gaming and focus on minor details to bloat about the extra horsepower in the graphics engine which is barely noticed by casual gamers.
It is mostly noticed by bystanders who watch the gamer play the game on at least a 55 inc tV a...

This combo is the best VR sollution overall.
The enhanced VR experience beats added 4K or HDR... Why??....during 99% of the time of gameplay players actually are less focussed on resolution.
You are more focussed on what button to push when a certain small part of the whole screen (ball, object,bot) acts.
With psvr on a pro the whole picture /world becomes more clear and less washed. And in VR gamer...

Please lookup the first party game developers list from Microsoft....and then compare it to the list of SONY.

MS claimed the ddr3 ram was not a problem, and that the power of the cloud and directx12/11 would power up its graphics to enormous levels.

The kinect was touted as the better one compaired to sony's general eye camera incombination with move controllers.
I hate to see it go. But then again MS does not invest much in exclusives so AAA kinect games are not coming.
If kinect was also on other game hardware platforms, it would have a change.
