The crash was actually due to a number of contributing factors. Arcades were still big and consoles were relentless expensive for much less graphical fidelity. I think people blame it on ET because it was just such a bad game. Then came ol' Nintendo to give everyone the NES and resurrect and bring consoles into dominance. :)
Keeping everyone in check doesn't even specify what exactly what that means in conjunction to his followup statement. Setting up rules is common with indie game approval. Steam has it. Sony has it. Even Microsoft has it. That's common for e-stores.
@AKR bubble for being helpful. I was really saddened to read the headline and to get the basic gist of the article, but it was also confusing because as you said, indies really seem to like the way Nintendo operates, sooo... what the heck??
And people say Nintendo's art style can't look fantastic. Mario Kart's look really surprised me, just like everyone else. Pretty much solidified Wii U is more powerful than last generation consoles. Those colors with those details at 60fps? Possibly 1080p? Done.
Don't forget, Smash Bros. U also looks rather gorgeous, as do Bayonetta and X! :D

We're going to get a lot of unveilings I think, not to mention a lot of gameplay footage for games that were announced last year. This year is going to be BIG for gamers, I think. :)
Nintendo games are indeed worth buying provided you can get past that they are generally based on older franchises. Nintendo needs to generate excite and make people see that there is good content worth buying a Wii U for.
At the most Vita TV will get a localization announcement, but I think that all depends on how it was performing in Japan. I honestly think this will indeed be about software and nothing more. Publishers should be taking the "games, games and more games" approach to E3 this year.

It would be nice if Nintendo localized that collection on GBA on the Wii U VC. That would be pretty awesmoe and Earthbound's success as a VC game might generate interest for such a localization. :)
If they withhold that game, I will eat my socks. They cannot afford NOT to localize that game when Wii U gamers need more content and everyone else need the incentive to buy one.
Good to see no one has attacked the Season Pass yet. There's always a bunch of people who seem to think DLC is an inherently bad thing. I've yet to see Nintendo misuse the model though. This Season Pass seems to offer a lot of content for what it's asking for. Also Fatal Frame on Wii U. DONE.
I can dig that. More space for the same asking price? Seems like a slick deal. Hopefully it will be a slim model so I can have a family of Sony slims. :D

That's a lot of talk. I'd have asked if you had a sort of statistics sheet or some sort of link to back up what you say, but you've used up your last bubble. If Microsoft franchises really do trump Sony franchises, it's the first I've heard of it.
If Sony dropped the price there wouldn't be much, if any incentive for Microsoft to keep going without seriously reevaluating their strategy. Microsoft needs to eliminate the Kinect from the primary SKU ASAP.
PS4's potential has been realized through game development. Right now, cloud computing is being hyped up and we've seen no demonstration of it actually working. I am all for seeing this in action, but let's not use hype to downplay what is already proven to be a great system.
I think the number was at least a million or two. Guess we'll find out when the documentary hits the XB1's network.
