It ain't over 'till it's over. I'm confident that Last Guardian is not cancelled until Sony explicitly says so.
Even with Wii motion controls I've yet to see a Nintendo game with anything tacked on. If they put multiplayer in it I think they will make it work just fine.
But you're sunk if you get knocked off the edge. :P I'm looking most forward to playing as Pac-Man.
It's good that the developer took this approach. Hyping up the Kickstarter before actually launching it is a very smart move especially in comparison to how Cult County was handled.
Metroidvania is a fun style of play and there hasn't been a new Metroid game since the arguably subpar Other M. I think Nintendo is reevaluating how to handle Metroid but they need to buckle down and just make one for the fans to tide people over until the next major release. I personally would love to see a new installment in Metroid rather than a 'knockoff.'
If Mario Kart 8 is the game of the month then why is Watch Dogs in the article picture? XD
That'd be a neat feature. I wouldn't mind a Mass Effect/Walking Dead story branch mechanic. Just as long as the fighting gameplay is better than Battle of Z. Blegh!
Valve has been doing way too much experimentation. Early access, Greenlight and even the Steam Machines are all very messy right now. They need to buckle down and get some quality control going.
I don't blame you for being cynical. Exactly the opposite, I think it's smart of you to approach Square with cynicism. All I'm saying is money talks and if more good games sell then Square will have to make more good games. It's as simple as that.
The craziest part is all of those games are from third parties.
I agree it was a silly idea to put reloading into the game when cool down was much more engaging IMO. Mass Effect 1 was more RPG than shooter and then ME2 went the opposite route. They wanted to make the game more like a contemporary shooter and by Mass Effect 3 it had most of the basic mechanics featured in Gears of War.
@Godmars290 I disagree. Bravely Default sold well because it was using what Square thought was a niche and outdated gameplay style. Bravely Default outsold Lightning Returns FFXIII because it wanted to be what FF fans really wanted while giving options that don't impede on the experienced players to also make it easier for newcomers to pick up.
Agreed. My time on N4G has been a lot of fun. I've come across some strange viewpoints, but it doesn't really compare to the better discussions I've had. Not long ago someone was nice enough to engage in a small discussion about Bioshock Infinite's ending and what he felt was off about it and it was a very good read. Also I of course tend to enjoy reading your blogs on social issues whether or not I completely agree with them. Stuff like that vastly outweighs the crappier side...
The reason why the licensed games you listed are so beloved is because they were not on the crappy time tables most licensed games get. Any movie tie-in always seemed to have a very short development cycle and led to very subpar quality. These games did not have that restriction, so actual time, effort and genuine love and care could be put into them. the approach is to stop the tie-in approach and let the developers have their own time table.
It's certainly not neglected in Japan, and a number of those Japanese games are indeed getting localized, so I think Vita will be okay in the long run.
I'd like to see Nintendo get Mega Man, Namco get Street Fighter, Microsoft get Dead Rising, Shinji Mikami's studio get Resident Evil and Sony get Monster Hunter. Or best case scenario Sony buys the whole dang company and their IPs.
One of my best friends has played through it on almost every difficulty. He invited a bunch of friends over, turned off all the lights and played it on the hardest difficulty. Apparently they had a blast. I myself can't play it because I'm too squeamish. Outlast looks awesome, but I'm a chicken with horror games lol.
"Tear through the city in the all-new batmobile and face off against a towering vision of Scarecrow and his undead army as they spread terror on the streets, available exclusively on PlayStation 4."
Batman and zombies, eh? I love me some zombies and I also love me some Batman. I can't wait to get this on PS4. :D
Of the issues presented, I think the biggest ones include the quality control issues with developers, early access and Greenlight. They are very flawed, but to Valve's credit they are newer, riskier fields to cover and require some element of trial and error to see how it can be done better.
I think it's fair for people to respond to the prices with their opinions, but I think some people are being very melodramatic about them. These are test prices and are not final.
