Actually, MSFS is not only the best civil flight simulator on the market, but it is also the best selling. As in it moves a decent amount of copies and more than likely has made a nice profit.
Try spewing that "oh it doesn't have guns, so it's sales must be abysmal" crap to the MASSIVE community the sim harbors. There are companies and people that make money solely off of producing 3rd party addons for the sim. And they make a decent amount of cash. That should tell you...
Agh, why ruin something so great? Sure they are probably going to continue to produce them, but the extended waits are going to be agonizing... I mean,Microsoft Flight Simulator is literally the only reason I still use my PC besides the internet.

I have a love-hate relationship with horror games. They often frighten me to the point where I don't want to play it anymore but I just can't put them down. Anybody else feel that way? It must be the adrenaline high you get when playing such games.

Anyways, I am really disappointed by this news. And I mean REALLY disappointed.
Oh, and I realize that this probably isn't a complete end to the series, but it just won't be the same.
I was gaming with one of my friends, who owns a 360. After taking a break, he goes to put Fallout 3 in and the damn thing wouldn't read the disc. I think he replaced the hard drive with one from a red ringed 360 he had laying around... or something like that (I was half asleep, sorry) and we kept on gaming.
Scary moment though, and a reason why I harbor a bit of a negative stigma towards the 360. I've come to view it as something of an (extremely) unreliable machine.

2012 would be a good year. Gives me enough time to fully enjoy the current gen while still advancing the tech.
I doubt that Sony wants Microsoft to enter the next gen market with no competition. If they hadn't allowed that this gen, Sony may very well be leading the console race. I expect to see them announce a new console (or at least a revision of the PS3) when MS announces theirs, or at least in a timely manner.

Gaming as a whole will never be a high art. We will always have the Call of Dutys, the Halos, and the Big Rigs Over The Road Racings. However, individual games are worthy of being secluded from the rest of this. Games such as Bioshock, Mass Effect, MGS4, Shadow of the Colossus, Okami, etc etc etc. are very worthy as being labeled as 'high art.' The development teams sure did put in enough work for it to deserve that label.
So in short, gaming? No. Individual games? Yes.
I could say the same thing about game journalists...

Not a surprise when you consider that most movies out today are the same rehashed crap just put into a new package. Also a reason why I no longer watch movies, bar some real winners and the classics.
