When you look at the most recent games such as god of war, there has been no real progression beyond how many polygons are on screen, the quality of the textures and their resolution. Oh, and frame rates.
None of these things make the game next gen. In reality, the games aren't that far advanced from PS1.

Uncanny valley is not good. It means almost right but something is missing and therefore unsettling.
