Well, they still have not patched the 6MB bug for Skyrim on the PS3 although the fix for that is to turn off all auto saves and save manually.
Action games seem to be the most popular of all the genres by about 35% across the world. http://www.bigfishgames.com... and games like Scalebound and Fable which appear to have RPG features are reasonably popular (approx 9% US, 7% Europe and 26% Japan).
Racing games are not that popular with 4% US, 10% Europe and 3% Japan.
It is interesting to also s...
I do think that Cecil Harvey from FFIV is one of the most interesting characters since he actually starts off as a Dark Knight and as it is explained in the article. "Cecil begins to hate himself more and more after following unjust orders. His story is that of personal redemption and becoming the person that he wants to be".
Once you get a party you can choose which character you wish to control. You don't have to play as Vaan unless you want to although like all members (up to six with three playable at any one time) you need to "program" via "gambits" each main character since you can swap out characters on the fly as well as position them on the battlefield.
Get your gambit programming wrong and you basically end up with turn-based combat which is fine when facing a t...
I did not purchase Dark Souls II for the PS3 since I already had a backlog of games. This was rather fortunate since I ended up purchasing Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin for the PS4 at a really good price since I had a PS+ subscription.
The game actually runs at 1080p 60 fps and plays so much more smoothly than the original Dark Souls and Dark Souls II for the PS3 which was 720p and if you are lucky 30 fps. So far on the Asia/Pacific server, there have been over 180...
Checkerboard rendering? Oh, wait. 😉
I buy a gaming console to play games not watch movies although I can easily play Bluray movies or watch Netflix if I wish. In the whole time, I have had a PS3 (2006) I have only watched about a dozen Bluray movies and for my PS4 I have never played a Bluray movie on it.
My son and wife watch Netflix via my PS3 at 1080p and even if I decide to get a 4K TV which I can't be bothered getting since I have a really good HDTV (55" @ 200Hz refresh) and 8K which is out now ...
That's nice are you going to "scalp" them? If so then you better hope the XB1x has massive shortages because Microsoft can easily ramp up production so you will only have a small window of opportunity. 😎
By the time Black Friday comes around you will most likely see the XB1s with a choice of two or more games discounted to about $200 USD. Of course, the PS4 will also be discounted (with one or more games) to compleat with the XB1s.
All Sony has to do is to keep the $100 USD price differential (I think it will be $50 to $80 USD) between the PS4pro and the PS4s and you are looking at a significant price differential between the base XB1s and PS4s compared to the XB1x which mo...
We know that the PS4pro is selling one in five PS4's sold (ie. 20%) http://www.playstationlifes... but the same can't be said for the XB1x compared to the XB1s since the XB1x is not even available for two and a half months.
Sure pre-order can help gauge the purchase of the XB1x but the problem is Microsoft has been ...
These games all have RPG stats associated with your character and you are dead right they are games that you need perseverance to play and survive but "horror" that is debatable although I do think Bloodborne's monsters come very close.
In Dark Souls the "Ornstein and Smough" fight is not really horror since they are humanoid but pick the wrong one to kill first and you really have to be very skilled to win. I do think Blighttown and the poison swamp...
I think most RPG's as we know and debate today derive from "Wizards of the Coast" or the original "Dungeons and Dragons" from the 1970's. The problem you have is that the original games were actually board games where the players nominate a "Dungeon Master" who effectively controls the gameplay.
You originally have stats controlling a character but over time those stats have changed as different iterations and rules associated with RPG ...
The biggest competitor to the XB1x is not the PS4 or the Switch it is the XB1s which by the time the XB1x launches will most likely be $200 to $250 USD cheaper and it will be an uphill battle to convince the general public that it is worth spending the extra money when all you are getting is improved visuals (great if you have a 4K TV) and the fact that all games that play on the XB1x will also play on the XB1s.
>> "Simple. Female lead and crappy combat"
You must not have played many FF games since many of them have female leads.
As for "crappy combat" what do you prefer "action" which FF13 and FF15 had that or do you prefer turn-based or active turn-based which is present in nearly all FF games? If that is your idea of crappy combat maybe you should be playing the Souls games or Bloodborne.

@XMessiah23x
The PS4 does tell you when your download has finished unless you have turned off that notification.
I suggest go to your "Settings" then "Notifications" and turn on all important notifications. Just tick the appropriate boxes.
@ShottyatLaw
Have you done an "apples" to "apples" comparison with same sized (read identical) games?

You basically have a 1Gb/sec (ie, Gigabit "Gb", not Gigabyte "GB") fibre connection between your home modem and your ISP but do you know what the network is like between your ISP and the server (in this Sony's) and your home?
Basically, overall network performance is dependent on the slowest device between you and the machine you are connecting to.
A good rule of thumb is never to allow your storage to exceed 85%. Once this happens you start to get disk fragmentation which can slow down performance dramatically. You don't get this with SSD's but they are not cheap compared to disk drives
BTW. When I say "storage" I mean all information stored on your hard disk or SSD such as games, movies, snapshots and even the operating system.
I don't have a problem with my PS4 however the following are the main reasons for performance issues o any network.
1. The server. Owned by Sony.
2. The network performance. This is the main cause of performance problems.
3. The network speed of your PS4 - such as wired (up to 1000Mb/sec) or wireless type (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac).
4. Your modem that connects to your Service provider.
If you have broadband you can get downloa...
Haven't you got "Adblock" or an equivalent enabled on your browser?
Ghostery is also a pretty good addition to your browser as well.
You can play Skyrim in the first-person mode and if you have a PSVR for you PS4 try playing in cinema mode. Actually, you can use the PSVR cinema mode for the XB1 and also the Switch.
Of course with "cinema mode" you won't get the full VR experience (ie. moving your head) but it still should look pretty good.
