Its just too bad that 80% of Sony's 100 million fanbase from the ps2 can't or won't invest in a Ps3 until its under the 200 dollar price point. If history means anything that is. So while yes its very good news for the few ps3 owners or the few to be ps3 owners.....its not going to convince casual gamers to invest 600 dollars for a ps3. By the time we hear about what game Epic is making for the ps3...the 500 dollar ps3's will be gone.

I went out and purchased Blood Diamond on HD-DVD. I already had the Blu ray version from a few weeks earlier. I was curious which would look better. HD DVD via my add on for my Elite...or Blu ray via my Ps3.
It was clear to me and a few of my friends I had over that the HD dvd version via my HD dvd add on looked sharper and the colors looked better. Every time I switched back and forth viewing the same scenes it was clear to everyone.

But I buy both formats...but I prefer HD DVD for a number of reasons.
1. So far the movies look better than the Blu ray movies do. I know the video quality is suppose to be the same....But it isn't.
2. HD Dvd has much much much better features. Like In Movie Expereience and U-Control. I love those two features and thats the biggest reason I like HD dvd over blu ray.

1. Do you realize that MGS and Final Fantasy Games for the ps2 only sold 1.5 to 2 million games each version?
2. How will that help the ps3 sales exactly? Thats only a few million fans and while both games are Great Franchises....They just didn't compare to GT game sales or Halo game sales or GTA game sales. Right now once MS releases its Quarterly report....There should be about 11.5 million consoles sold. Then you have July, August, September, October, November and of course December. The months to look at is the months surrounding the Halo 3 release and the GTA release. Then Christmas of course will move a good 2 million 360's as it has the previous two christmas holidays. This site is a gaming site. You have your sony fanboys or 360 fanboys and then you have "Gamers" like me who choose both and enjoy both consoles.
But you hit the nail on the head I must admit. Us Gamers will not be the deciding factor in which format gets adopted worldwide. Even if the ps3 was to muster up 100 million ps3's sold in the next 8 years.....That number still doesn't compare to what is needed to win the format war. DVD movies have hit the billion mark...
And where is it now? Movie studio support will Sway one way or the other once more "average" consumers adopt the stand alone players. Thats the way it has always been and always will be.
Right now every single movie studio still produces mass numbers of standard DVD's. Much much much more than blu ray or HD dvd. So right now Standard Dvd has ALL the movie studio support.
