RE4 revolutionized 3rd person shooters. GoW isn't revolutionary. Its actually quite safe as far as modern trends go. Also, RE4, while good on its own, was a terrible RE game.
I came here for the comments and I am thoroughly amused.
Yall forgot Dreams. Can't wait to get my hands on that game.
To be fair, the aspects of Star Fox Zero that sucked were not under PG's creative control. They were forced to make a bad game in that particular instance. Anarchy Reigns was a decent game. It wasn't great but it definitely wasn't bad.
You've had the full ps4 library in digital this entire gen. For Sony to continue to support physical media does not get in the way of that.
50 cents to go prone, bro.
It'll need better advertising to hit that level. People gotta know its there.
I happy too.
LOLed@bold and courageous.
Finally! Was wondering when this was gonna drop.
Finally... a random horror game that isn't 1st person.
DMC3 is king. DMC4 could have been if the dev team was allowed to finish it, but its actually kind of impressive what they were able to deliver with only a year dev time.
DmC wasn't faster, it was just button masher friendly. The classics were like greased lightning if you knew how to play. The difference is the reboot didn't require any real skill from the player where classics (baring DMC2), especially DMC3, weren't gonna let you by without it. This is why those of us who come from the the classic stylized action games (DMC, Ninja Gaiden) got bored with the reboot after a couple of minutes. The framerate sucked too. Don't get me started on th...
@Fox
"A step backwards in every way" is a bit harsh. It did actually do platforming better. That said, the gameplay was boring, the characters were obnoxious and the writing was pretentious as hell. Not to mention the colors were headache inducing at times.
If you read the review and have actually played the games yourself, it is probably safer to assume he only put a few hours into this collection before reviewing.
Bullshit. He stated in the opening paragraphs hes only played and liked DmC. The one with the scrubby combat, the super d-bag wannabe hipster Dante, and the pretentiously written story. He calls the combat clunky. Its not clunky, its skill based. Its only clunky if you try to button mash your way through the game. This isn't God Of War, its actually a well developed and balanced combat system. Its not there to make you feel like a badass, its there to tempt you to actually be a badass. Yo...
Nier Automata, while a great game, is not on the same level as DMC3 as far as the action gameplay goes.
@AspiringProGenji
If they wanted to move away from the brain dead aspects of the original series, they should have gone more in the direction of DMC/Ninja Gaiden. The current direction of this game is obviously more in the feelsy and cinematic direction. The gameplay does NOT look fun.
Surely Twisted Metal 3&4 have earned a place on this list.
I agree that it was insanely influential. Not knocking it on its own merits, at all. Its a great game. Its merits as an RE game is a completely different story though. Like the former RE games-in-development that eventually became Devil May Cry and Onimusha, there was no reason it had to bear the RE name. No need to cannibalize one of the greatest game series of all time just to bring RE4 to market.
We could have had it all: great 3rd person macabre action shooters and gre...
