X is selling more because people want to have Xerneas, the first Fairy legendary. Add that to the dissapointment that Yvetal is just Dark/Flying and not Dragon.

Its an In-Battle Evolution. You need to be holding a specific Mega Stone. Once the battle is over they revert back to their normal form.
Xerneas is the first Legendary Fairy (Supereffective against Yvetal btw) so I'll get X. Also, Mega Mewtwo X looks cooler imo.
