I disagree P_Bomb. that's 1 reason I'm not really interested in getting into MGS. too many missed games, don't want to start in the middle. and if I try to go back to the beginning, I'd have to suffer thru all manner of unrefined, oldfashioned gameplay...

didn't they use that twice in orig bioshock? where SOAD said and again in Arcadia, when you're 1st encountering a houdini and u go to look at the mask sitting on a lockbox. I think I kind of expected 1 or both, and yet still got a nasty little fright when I turned around. or maybe BECAUSE I half-expected it. or maybe I'm just a wuss.

I've been seriously considering buying Dead Space over XBL at only $19.99. but then I noticed all the xtra DLC I might want that would add to that $19.99.

better at storytelling?! ME1 > ME2. don't believe me? here are a few problems with ME2 plot that I can remember off the top of my head:
1. if I'm a collector why contract out kidnapping/collecting to other groups/races when I'm already the best at it! no one can defend against my swarms anyway!
2. why bother to attack that giant... thing... (1st time) when you've already planted charges to destroy it and ...
perhaps I tired of exploring planets in ME1 after the first few, BUT it set a new bar for serious games for serious gamers IMO. top-notch storytelling with no corny dialogue (really what other game can claim this?), delivered by decent voice-actors and animated somewhere between acceptable and f*ing awesome. and music + presentation working together by offering cool new twists on old scifi techniques = brilliant!

I think Bioshock2 is a shining example of how to do what you're talking about. turning around and seeing that splicer looking in on the bedroom 'action' really got across how messed up Rapture had become. also there's an audiolog mentioning splicing WHILE getting freaky. kind of wonderfully horrif...
if using in-game assets (vs cut scene rendering) need better character modeling, face modeling, clipping improvements. unfortunately this is difficult and expensive for devs. some of the good devs can hide graphical limitations thru good design; but that's not really an option with exposed human form, is it?
well sure MSNBC doesn't really report on stuff that puts Dems in a bad light. but I don't think MSNBC or the Dems are near as bad as FOX and the Repubs. FOX and the Repubs seem quite happy with playing on the fears of the ignorant masses IMO. for them, if america gets smart then they lose. disgusts me how they try to keep their loyal fans nice and intolerant.
