The definitive edition had a tonne of improvements over the PS3 and 360 versions of the game, it's not like Crystal Dynamics just straight ported the 7th gen version of those games over to the PS4 and XB1.

With the XB1 version of this being 1080p 30FPS during gameplay either visuals should have a good boost or the game should be running very close to 60FPS for most of the time. With this game being built more with Asynchronous Compute in mind PS4 should have a bigger ad...

Neither of those things are needed to make a game have long legs.
Provided there's a story and setting that appeals to a large enough group of people then it can certainly sell for a long time.

Having plenty of content and gameplay choices that can be tackled in multiple, different ways is what's needed to make a game sell over the long haul.

Days Gone isn't a Zombie game, the creatures in the game are live humans that have gone feral because of a virus that makes them that way.

Zombies are dead and they don't have social groups or have the habits of humans like the Freakers do in Days Gone.

What exactly has Sony got to fear?

PS4 is still a platform with real exclusives, not just exclusive in the console space.
If you want to play Horizon, Days Gone, The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush 2, Gran Turismo Sport, God of War, Insomniac's Spider-Man Ni-Oh and the copious amount of other exclusive games then you have to buy a PS4 and Sony are giving gamers an option for something that will run all of those better than the launch model, if you're tech minde...

A release date would be a specific date for a region, not a vague comment of "Holiday 2016".
The Holiday period is like 3 months long, so all we've been given is a release window and then radio silence.

For one thing PS4's GPU was designed more with Asynchronous Compute in mind, having 4X the number of ACEs XB1's GPU does, plus the system's big pool of RAM is over 3X faster than XBox One's DDR3, which eSRAM cannot make up for, both of those things make that kind of a difference a reality if developers bother to take advantage of the hardware.

Most likely though Crystal Dynamics or whoever are handling the PS4 version of the game will bump up the visual sett...

Playstation owners bought way more copies of the rebooted Tomb Raider and they've been supporting this game for longer and in bigger numbers than the XBox platform owners have, they should not have been delayed the chance to buy the game, it's that simple really.

This deal was a slap in the face to fans of the series.
Yes the publisher owes their install base and they have zero right to charge full price for this, when they chose not release the game on Pla...

The GPU you used only has 12 compute units, PS4 has 18, plus that PC rig only has 4GBs of DDR3 (at only 1333Mhz, which is slow compared to even XB1, let alone PS4) and 2GBs of GDDR5 for the GPU, both PS4 and XB1 have 8GBs overall.
Both PS4 and XB1 also have a Bluray Drive, plus you'll have to pay for USB ports and the OS.
Basically you need to add at least $100 for that rig to match XB1 and probably a bit more to match PS4 because it has a far more capable GPU.

Moore's Law on silicon components coming to an end of their scaling down process doesn't change a thing as far as the economy of PC and Console markets goes.

PC parts still need to make a profit in order for the business to be sustained, whereas consoles can continue to make their money through things besides the hardware, you haven't dealt with this point, because it really can't be argued against.

Just because we may not be able to conti...

Replying to your 7th of July post:

It's a matter of economics, PC parts have to have a bigger profit margin per component in order for the manufacturers to sustain the business and continue to move development forward, console manufacturers can afford to sell hardware at a loss or considerably smaller margins to the point of only breaking even on a generation of core console hardware because they can make their money on games, services and peripherals.

PC components always have a decent profit mark-up, it's an inherent necessity of the business, otherwise vendors couldn't make any money and they wouldn't be able to sustain themselves or invest in new products.

It's impossible for PC hardware to be that cheap and for consoles to not be cheaper because the console makers tend to sell hardware cheap, but make up losses on hardware and profit from Software and Services.
Also the console business isn&#...

Regarding Sony's receivers they've had many award winning products in multiple categories for years, of course there's competition, but they're rarely bad products, certainly not really bad ones.

Smartphones they tend to make excellent handsets, but in the past their price has been the problem or people have had issues getting them from network providers.
Speakers wise they're OK, many brands are too good of a competition for say standmount unit...

There was no mention made of Sony's Insurance business, nothing about Movies or Music, all of which are still very much at the forefront of Sony's financial plans, since those products were always the ones that made them huge bank, even at the declining periods and when the company was at it's lowest.

While Phones may have been on the decline at times, that still doesn't mean they're not a huge money maker.

I constantly hear from Pro Xbox guys that Sony uses Smoke and Mirrors, but you guys never say exactly what these Smoke and Mirror tactics are, can you elaborate?

Sony have delivered more exclusives and will have had the better hardware for over 4 years of the generation, plus you're assuming that Sony had 100% nailed down the exact specs rumors said Neo has, even though that system's end performance could be vastly increased by actually overclocking the GPU to much ...

Yep, great stuff, not just one game that looks OK, but a whole host of games that look great.
Great for existing PS4 owners, great for people that have been on the fence and waiting for reasons to go in on getting a PS4, neo should also satiate anyone that thinks the launch PS4 isn't powerful enough for their tastes.

There's still more than just those games you've listed too miyamoto.

True and what's funny is Sony had dealt with the majority of their "soon games" outside of the conference.
Horizon and GT Sport both had their release dates announced before E3, they did deliver a release date for the one game they really needed to at their conference and that was The Last Guardian, confirmed coming in October.

Gravity Rush 2, Ni-Oh and Let it Die were also confirmed as still on track for 2016 and Nier: Automata is confirmed for Q1 20...

I'm certainly in agreement with the people commenting below, this game looks absolutely awesome!
One of those games that would get none RPG players to be interested in the genre and for people that love RPGs they'll just be even more in love with the genre after getting their hands on this.

It seems very much like Guerrilla have done everything necessary and within their power to take this concept and make the best out of it.
They seem to have alre...

Gonzalez also worked on Shadow of Mordor and Tom Clancy's: End War.
There are also Witcher 3 veteran devs working on this game too.
Not to forget the Dead Island 2 director Bernd Diemer, he also worked on Crysis Warhead.

The team working on this game seems to be legendary.
People that have played this say the gameplay feels awesome, seems like it won't be disappointing those that play it and like the genre come Feb/March next year.

The thing is you can both show release dates for up and coming games, along with bringing as many new things as you can fit into your allotted time.
If MS had actually used a password on their servers or just kept conference details off of a web connected computer then they would have had some surprises, but for some strange reason that didn't seem to occur to Microsoft.

Bend have 100 people, Guerrilla 150, if both are making similar sized games, then it would take Bend 50% longer to finish this, compared to Horizon.

Bend started Days Gone around this time in 2013, based on time and resources this will likely release either late 2017 or early 2018. Bend also only had 50 people before starting on this, they've been a pretty small AAA studio for a while and they also finished their last game in late 2012 (that was Fight For Fortune), so a...
