Spidey's been in development at Insomniac since Sunset Overdrive shipped, that game went gold in September 2014, so by July Spider-Man would have been in development for close to 3 years.
I reckon it'll launch around the time the film releases on DVD and Bluray.
I'm pretty sure it was stated that their Engine was upgraded during the PSX 2016 coverage of TLOU:P2, some of that likely applies to Lost Legacy.
Sony could have waited to show this and announce it's release date at E3, most likely ND will show some gameplay of The Last of Us Part 2 off then.
This looks phenomenal though, can't believe how awesome 2017 is shaping and there's still the potential for God of War, Spider-Man, Days Gone, Knack 2, GT Sport, Dreams and Detroit Become Human to release sometime later this year and in early 2018.
PS4 and XB1 taking 7-8 years to release, after the previous generation was an anomaly, most likely PS5 will come 6 years after PS4 released, 7 at a stretch.
Judging by the fact PS3 was packing 250GFlops of performance and the jump to PS4's 1,840 represents a 7.36X increase in raw flops PS5 should have at least 13.54TFlops, AMD Navi GPUs should easily be able to achieve that with way more efficiency than current architecture allows.
32GBs isn't going to be a...
Actually the digital fountry, analyzing and critical modern gaming society asked for both the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio, because those people want a better experience from their games or for those that are yet to buy into the current gen of Xbox and PlayStation because they didn't feel the technologies in either system were good enough to warrant buying into what has been available.
While the majority may feel PS4 and XB1 are fine for their gaming needs, there is certain...
Both Scorpio and PS4 Pro are optional, it's not like either will have exclusive core games (by which I mean none VR games) that you can't play on their lower end counterparts, if anything with both offering improved technologies to give gamers a better experience compared to the base systems they're both attempting to invigorate their respective platforms.
Phil Spencer has already confirmed on IGN's Unlocked Podcast that they don't expect Scorpio to outs...
Scorpio's SoC uses the same core CPU and GPU tech as PS4 Pro, only it's GPU uses 4 more Compute Units, even the GPU command processor is standard, it's just using pre-written commands to make DX12 math more automated, but GPU command processors have been used in consoles before.
When PS4 and Pro were developed the technologies inside them hadn't been used in a console before, same goes for GDDR5 being used as a unified memory pool for consoles.
Real...
There's nothing really genius in what Microsoft have done with creating Scorpio alongside AMD, it's just an incremental update achievable because of the developmental timeframe of the hardware in relation to the generation and because developers can see what they need to achieve the results they want.
Scorpio essentially uses an SoC and memory that is only slightly upgraded from what the PS4 Pro has, I mean Sony used GDDR5 first and the GPU in Scorpio only uses about 11% more...
People seem to be overestimating how much Scorpio is likely to launch at.
Bare in mind XB1-S comes with a 1TB HDD, 4K Bluray drive and a game for $319.
PS4 Pro has an SoC pretty close to Scorpio's, 4 extra Compute Units will add a negligible extra cost to the chip, same goes for the DX12 hardware and refined Jaguar Cores on the CPU side of the chip, SoC costs won't be more than 20% higher than the Pro's costs and while Scorpio is also packing in 50% mor...
Scorpio uses the same 2MB per 4 Core CPU cluster, 2 Clusters would equal 4MB, pretty standard for Jaguar.
There was nothing in DF's analysis videos that state Scorpio's CPU is using a Puma on crack, though even Puma uses the same core architecture as Jaguar, there are power consumption improvements in Puma, but it lacks HSA features, if Scorpio has those, then it's still Jaguar, probably with tweaks from the Puma improvements.
Btw RAD still made one of ...
Ready at Dawn know hardware, they've worked on Windows and XB1, plus many other systems besides PS4.
Hardware specific features aren't a new thing, like having dedicated compute queues, to allow less work to optimize compute workloads on the GPU.
It's an iterative thing, not revolutionary with regards to the DX12 Hardware in Scorpio.
Scorpio can't handle all games at 4K 60fps, with Ultra settings, remember Rich from Digital Foundry is talki...
The GPU, RAM volume and speed are obviously where the major improvements come from, but a 31% increase in CPU clock speed isn't anything to sniff at.
We don't really know what effect the latency improvements will make to the CPU pipeline and of course the additional hardware based DX12 features should help.
Added CPU clock speed, plus reduced latency in that area of hardware could have pretty substantial benefits, than the 31% boost to CPU speed shows on pa...
The specs Scorpio are about what I expected, I thought Microsoft would go with a 36CU Polaris GPU clocked around 1305Mhz to hit the mark, rather than 40CUs at 1172Mhz to hit 5.99TFlops.
Ryzen and Vega were never going to happen.
The hardware no doubt seems great, especially with the hardware implemented DX12 features (which likely includes Vulkan optimized game features to), now everything rests on the price and games support.
Even at $499 it wil...
So I was right, Jaguar is being used used for Scorpio's CPU, same goes for Polaris being used for the GPU, which is no surprise to me.
Switch my dream?
Switch isn't my dream at all, it's a low powered, poor value for money device, with very little software support right now.
I think you must be confusing me with another user on N4g.
Sony don't need to make a loss on PS4 or Pro to continue to maintain market dominance, they're at a point where manufacturing costs can allow for significant price reductions, while they keep their value edge and they also have the significantl...
Logically a system with 4.5X the raw horsepower of one that runs some games at 1080p is going to be able to run those same games at 4X the resolution with enough power to add some visual features, to those games if developers want to put in some extra work.
As for Witcher 3 getting a patch, CD Projekt Red have consistently said they're busy on Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077 now, unless Microsoft allows PC games at Scorpio optimized settings to run on the console I wouldn'...
@Tussin187: That was in a different time and before systems used more standardized tech, AMD are the confirmed processor providers for Xbox and PS4, they can't lie to their investors and it makes no sense to do so.
Consoles have what they have and advancements in technical in-game features come from software iteration, you can't future proof against hardware that is improved every year.
Ryzen, Vega and 4K 60FPs native, ultra settings on every game isn't happening.
Neither is a price higher than $499.
Scorpio's no doubt got an 8 Core Jaguar CPU running maybe with a few tweaks to allow for faster clockspeeds, a refined version of the RX 480, like PS4 Pro, only with better optimized power management for faster clockspeeds and reduced heat, access to a bigger frame buffer and faster memory bandwidth.
Phil Spencer has already...
Actually we know Scorpio is using an 8 core Jaguar CPU, with clock speeds running higher than XB1-S to keep seamless compatibility with base XB1 games, while enabling more consistent frame rates.
Ryzen would have been pointless for what Scorpio is, a higher end XB1, with the ability to run 1080p and in some cases lower res XB1 games at 4K native resolutions.
The GPU is built on the same core as the the RX480 like the PS4 Pro (only optimized for higher clockspeeds, with bette...
Maybe GT Sport, God of War, Spider-Man, Knack 2, in the second half of 2017 with Days Gone, Detroit and Dreams landing in early 2018.
Sucker Punch's new game could be early 2018 or Fall 2018, along with TLOU:P2.
