Phil Spencer is the man who jumped after the goldrush of multiplayer only titles - HE greenlit Fable IV and Sea of Thieves. IF he is only realising the importance of single player games now then it demonstrates a lack of foresight and he is not able to understand gamers and their needs properly and he is slow to reacting to their needs.
At the moment there are very few Xbox exclusives announced for 2017. If Spencer gets on the E3 stage and there are not any near-ready exc...
'Charming'? Don't fake use superlatives when they don't fit. Phil Spencer is playing but it is the wrong use of the word charming. Fix up!
All because of that troublemaking kangaroo that got the dog in a headlock.
Let me guess: The new Xbox avatars are going to be made less cute and more 'street' to match the Bro-Power image of the Scorpio!
Your comment reveals you have a sense of noble naivety. In the real world companies are racist, sexist, ageist, politically bias etc to their staff - it's just that they are too clever to say it directly. So when Lucky was sent packing of course Facebook are not going to print a document and say 'it's because Zuckeberg strongly disagrees with your politics'! That would just leave them open to all sorts of legal issues and a public backlash. Removing him from his role will actu...
He was forced out of the company he created because he expressed political opinions that were different from Mark Zukerberg.
@Septic :)
If the NeoGaf comments made him cry for two days, just wait until he reads the reviews!
@darthv72 Yes a silly decision! I wanted to play the first Halo Wars as did many others. But sequels normally have superior gameplay and graphics. So for those who have played Halo Wars 2, the first game now seems fairly redundant.
If I was publisher Microsoft I would have released the first game at least six months before Halo Wars 2. The budget price and nostalgia would have made it a very good seller. Those customers would have been more inclined to buy the sequel. Thi...
It doesn't have to be, either / or. Of course gameplay is paramount but that doesn't mean graphics don't matter. It's a big part of the reason we upgrade with every console generation - because we want games that look better, that are animated better. The truth is that beautiful graphics add immensely to our enjoyment of a game.
@whitesoxfalife1976 You are being overly harsh on the bloggers as they are being entirely transparant. The Phil Spencer element is the most important so they use it as the headline. It isn't at the beginning of their podcast show but they do give timecodes so you can jump straight to it.
Why release this after Halo Wars 2? A silly business decision.
No one likes delays. But better this than the Mass Effect: Andromeda example where the game is released on time, but is negatively impacted by the need for further quality assurance.
Spencer reveals Microsoft were working on 'XBO Pro' for release in 2016 - but cancelled the project and made a new console for 2017. I wonder if the reason for the decision was all the leaked specs about PS4 Pro? And they thought rather than risk making a weaker console than the PS4 Pro, better to make a new console that would be more powerful than Sony's.
You can't say 'diverse' without evidence.
A cool bribe that should deliver some favourable coverage from Digital Foundry.
The Scorpio sure looks powerful but there's no chance the Xbox will outsell PlayStation in 2017. We can make guestimates by looking at the PS4 Pro. $399/£349 is a reasonable price for more power. Sony hasn't released sales figures for it but it appears to be a niche product, I.e. a maximum of 10% of total PS4 sales. So despite offering great value it didn't become a best seller.
The Scorpio when released will offer better performance on all existing games ...
EA & Bioware kept a senior member of the MA:Andromeda development team on despite him making multiple racist statements. If he had been a white man making those statements about black people Bioware would have fired him. I hate racism but am so disappointed that Bioware let this slide. It also reveals that the company had an unprofessional attitude to the development of this game.
Bioware - too little too late.
8-10 hours.
A company celebrating the first year anniversary of their own game that critics deemed to be above average!
@AspiringProGenji I seriously doubt that SquareEnix will make it an exclusive on ANY platform. The XBO timed exclusive was a PR disaster. It reputedly sold less on XBO than the first reboot Tomb Raider game. When ROTR was released on PS4 there were good first week sales in the UK then they fell of a cliff.
Some exclusives work but this one was just terrible because when it was first revealed at Microsoft's E3 it wasn't an exclusive, then at Gamescom in Germany t...
