I loved Skyrim but got bored with it after about 90 hours. It's a shame too, I still hadn't even started the Dark Brother but every time I popped it in, it felt tedious.
In it's defence, any game that gives me 90 hrs of enjoyment is amazing.
Played most of those games, didn't like any of them.

I for one would love something partially upgradable (ram, GPU) but still compatible with older hardware, sort of like iPhone.
I know the advantage of consoles is optimizing for specific hardware and knowing a game will work immediately after you put it in but if Valve can work out a deal with a GPU maker that allows for a specific "SteamBox" GPU so devs would still know exactly what hardware they're working with.

At what point do people call it a tie between PS3 and 360.
I think 360 has about 1% more market-share. If PS3 sells 10 000 less will people still say it was in last instead of tied for second with 360? At this point it's pedantic to say that MS beat Sony in consoles sales.
Perhaps people should quote the actual number of working consoles...

Totally agree, especially patches. MS should only charge the amount it costs them to administer the patch.
There's no justification for charging devs 10s of thousands of dollars to fix bugs. All it means is that gamers lose, and the industry suffers.
A patch shouldn't be exploited as an opportunity to profit.
Oh, and at least 8 gigs of ram, lack of RAM seems to always be a major hardware limitation later on in the gen. 8 gigs at reta...
I don't see why people care so much about BC, they'll spend 90% of their time playing next-gen games not last-gen ones. Also, the trade in value for PS3/360 will be abysmal, keep your current system in your collection and connect it for the odd time you feel like playing a 10 year old game with outdated gameplay and graphics.
If backward compatibility upped resolutions and framerates then, yeah I'd understand this obsession for it but as of now people are just ask...

The interface is terrible on 360, particularly the fast forward and rewind.
All I know is that Far Cry 3 on consoles runs horribly. A game can't look good if it constantly tearing frames and running at 22 FPS. I really wish Ubisoft just dropped the resolution more to prevent tearing and juddering.

They already have. Gamers don't support new IPs or gameplay innovations or even the best games. Instead the majority buy yearly sequels and spend hundreds of hours a year playing competitive MP in their favourite FPS/sports game.
The biggest sales every year have been the same games all gen - COD and choice sports game(FiFa, Madden, NBA, etc). Then "gamers" just log in MP hours till the next year iteration.

It appears once again, Nintendo's console appeals only to people whose favourite games are Nintendo exclusives.
Shame, I was really looking forward to Wii U, I wouldn't mind playing the new Meteoroid on it when it releases. Maybe I'll get it in a couple years, as of now, I rather put the money towards the upcoming next-gen consoles or a gaming PC.
