@domination there were also way less good games to pick from during that era. FF7 was THE flagship title that all other jrpgs aspired to be, there was nothing like it when it released. Even though FF7 remake + rebirth is great, it doesn't have that title anymore. The competition have caught up and honestly, releasing in Q1 2024 probably wasn't the best choise.
