Rats are nightmares a century ago. If video games exists back then their enemy popularity will be equal to zombies. It's true that rats still exists but not the same problem they used to be.
Basically, every review these days focus on what the game did not offer than what it has. The game is not perfect but a 3/5 review just shows that these reviewers may not always align to what gamers actually experience.

Choices leads to story branches which could have lead to more work on the story. Either they are a genius for listening to 'feedback' or simply made things simplier for them.
