They are not competing. Sony does not consider them competition at all. They've even said so. They are even working with them on the Zelda movie. One is an under-powered handheld and one is a premium console.

I suspect PS5 will be further ahead. It truly is amazing that a 5 year old console is beating or very close to a brand new Switch 2 console. I think a major factor is the whole Microsoft and Xbox thing. I think it's obvious that lots of potential console buyers are avoiding Xbox and going with Playstation. Next gen is going to be massive for Playstation.
