I went through TWO RROD! Both were within the 3 year period. MS replaced them for free within 3 weeks.
No one will deny the 360 had issues, but MS did spend about $1 billion in warranty extensions and free repairs for millions of consoles.
Since then, they seemed to have learned their lesson. I don't know a sole that has had hardware issues with the slim model.
greenlantern,
I bought my first 360 in November 06. The warranty WAS only 90 days, but was bumped up to one year right before I purchased it. This was a retroactive warranty from launch date. So it covered ALL 360's and sent reimbursement checks to anyone who had to pay for RROD repair.
In 2007, they bumped it to 3 year. This included new and USED 360's. They also included the E74 error in 2009.
So that means EVERY 360 was covered(new...
That is what happened at first last gen(ps3 and 360). Initially all multiplat games were ported to the PS3 from 360 since it was easier to code.
But most devs switched to PS3 first then port to 360 BECAUSE the 360 is easier to code.
It makes sense, develop the game on the hard machine first, then its smooth sailing to port to the other(less complex) machine.
How is it even possible to have two xbox 360 with RROD and MS didn't fix them? They had a three year RROD warranty. I know, I had two replaced(for free and a couple months free Live Gold).
Sorry, I fail to believe you.
Second, the 360 RROD has been resolved and fixed since the "Jasper" version of the last curvy 360.
So go buy a cheap 32gb usb stick. Or just use the cloud storage available(for game saves).

Trying reading and less guessing.
@Brish,
You should try doing some research before stating something as fact: http://www.escapistmagazine...
-YES the Kinect can be turned off. You control how reactive the Kinect sensor is.
Con-Sept,
Yes, MS did fix the RROD after the "Jasper" chipset came out in the last curvy 360. The 360S does not RROD and its failure rate has to be near all electronic device norms now.
Wow, it took one full comment till the insults fly, how mature.
So Sony "cares" about you? They make hardware and software that they want you to give up your money to buy.
Just face it Sony had a better opening strategy and it seems to be working for them right now.
I know this, but just like cell phone plans(that virtually everyone uses) people pay very little up front for the phone and then a monthly contract fee that of course after two years costs more than the original price of the phone.
Absolutely it would be better to save the money first and pay cash, but how many people do that anymore?
Exactly what I was thinking. They have that plan already in place, so why not implement that closer to the holidays?
It would be a good sales tactic, let everyone think PS4 has the "least" expensive then come out with a $350 system with two year Xbox Live contract.(yes I predict $350)
I do agree multiplayer should be free, with all other services available with a gold membership.
Maybe a third tier service: silver=free as is, gold=$3 a month for multiplayer only, platinum= $10 month with credit back for Netflix and Huluplus and discounts/free DLC.
Um, I think you are about 3 years late on that comment.
If you thought the PS3 would be comparable to the PC version then I would ask you where you have been the past few months......since every article has clearly stated the PC version would be Dice's premier choice.
@LNDCalling
When an actual 33gb single layer or 66gb dual layer disc comes out and is used in games or movie applications, then I will take back my statement.
Besides, in my opinion, the cost of a 200+gb Blu-ray disc will prohibit its use when flash technology price and performance is advancing so much faster.
It has become the myth of alot of PS3 owners that the PS3 will eventually be able to use the higher capicity 3 and 4 layer BDXL format.
The higher capacity discs require a more powerful laser that the PS3 does not have.

@frosty and FarEast^^^^
Even the mighty PS3 cannot play more than the 50gig Blu-ray. Sorry, it would need a new laser to read the 4-layer discs.

Even if the console version looks half this good, it will be worth it.
You must be an expert.
