When I first heard this news I was scared... if the "style" at IGN becomes the new norm, we as gamers could all be in some trouble. Bringing up their Dead Space 2 review is a damn good scare tactic for the future of game reviewing and writing in general.

Honestly, I VERY much prefer SSFIV without the 3D. It blurs some of the finer details that work the style, and looks much better in the standard definition. I picked it up, and if the battery can hold a charge without the 3D on it should work for a while.
I don't hide my love of the hand-held market much, and I'll pick this up either day one or soon after... but every point makes sense. After the DS taking off, I want to see just what they can do with 3D that the Virtual Boy didn't (and in color!).
The reasons you've written out are why I don't bother with Veteran difficulty... I recognize the devs can't/won't do too much different to make that difficulty level unique enough to go through. There's a fine balance between challenging and frustratingly cheap, and it ain't caused by just ramping up the number of baddies and lowing a player's HP.
