I'm pretty sure Sony/Polyphony also want to know who can post the best lap times so they can somehow make their opinion on who they'll probably pick as their next driver..

..the lucky bastard.

I for one am slightly disappointed because was expecting that they give us the trial demo version with damage-mode of Subaru WRC, although it still has some issues and needs more work.

Yes have seen the video footage and honestly am disappointed..

..but hey it's better than no demo at all.

Wouldn't it have been better if they gave us the Subaru damage-mode trial version they demoed a few months back?, even though it's still a work-in-progress I'm sure a lot of gamers' would have been thrilled to at least try-out this game than the one their handing us in a few days time.

The video footage is atrocious, so many bugs and pixelations plus the gamer doesn't even know how to drive let alone handle the damn car..

..am very disappointed.. although I know the Subaru WRC with damage-mode capability they demoed still have some issues and needs to be ironed-out, was hoping though this would be the one they might hand-out to us.
Would love to see how the smashed rallye car plays out and to read other gamers' opinion even if it's still work-in-progress...

No mention of any tracks from Australia like maybe Mount Panorama or even Philip Island?..and the F1 Singapore ( night ) Circuit?..

..do like the sound of Monaco Circuit.

I really really wish they could put a lot of real world gravel/mud/snow/tarmac rallye tracks for the WRC class in GranTurismo 5.

And some very long and winding real/imaginary circuits besides those mentioned like famed Nurburgring, LeMans etc.

I do have one complaint about Forza 3 and maybe some out there might also noticed this on the game.. without calibrating the engine/gearbox and basically leaving the car's statistics in default why is it that when you'ved reached the really powerful car class that it's harder to launch them off the starting line?
There seems to be a lot of wheelspin going on which just isn't true in real life?
I can get it that these type of supercars are very moody and have to be manhandled d...

It was to be expected that reviews like these would come-out to counter Uncharted 2's success... which I think would definitely get the award for game of the year and most probably remembered as the most progressive game of it's genre.

I did remember the days when there were a lot of complaints about the most anticipated games coming in very late for the PS3 and do believe they was truth in them.. that was then but now all is changed and most title coming-out are very very good and worthwhile collecting.

I hope with the demo they release next week will have damage-mode ability, so it could give us fans of GT Series to make opinions..

.. can't wait.. and wish DLC would be a last minute surprise.

Thanks GVON for the post.

I believe the damage-mode will become something of a compromised type as said in the article.. especially favoring to a handful of premium brand manufacturers which don't want their priced possessions to be seen as easily smashed/crumpled ( i.e. their carbon bodies are much tougher in strength ) compared to most basic manufacturers' ( stamped steel ) counterparts.
It's good that at last GranTurismo will have damage-mode but there should be equality in simulation to all brands and body...

Such a pity the developers can't face the fact that they're also killing-off the franchise by not being as progressive as their competitors and by simply relying on it's history to sell this game.

I think even though head tracking hasn't been confirmed yet, it will only be a minor but still useful addition to GranTurismo 5..

..quite cool feature really where you can use it especially when glancing sideways for AI/on-line opponents wanting to overtake during multi-player races and/or recording your drive and posting it on the 'net using your PS Eye-cam.

Still have to see how quick and responsive the camera would react to sudden head movements.

I remember them saying cars and tracks so am hoping those race tracks will come-out sometime after..

..just wish they could give the cars for free and make use of the points system on the tracks.

There's no question about GranTurismo as being the standard upon which other developers base their driving/racing game title.

I just hope that they can put in more street/race/dirt/snow tracks in the next installment..
..and bring back night racing or better yet a weather simultion, this will surely generate a lot of adrenalin especially in multi-player sessions.

I would really love it if Sony/Polyphony could put more long street/race tracks like this Nurburgring, LeMans and other famed circuits in the game.
Maybe they could get experts opinion on other good road and track to build for the game..

..I'm sure a lot of gamers/fans will very much appreciate racing all their cars if there would be worthy enjoyable race/dirt/snow tracks to venture.

Great post.

I got so obsessed when it first came-out, was just playing for miles on end.

Remember you had to get a license first before going to the main events and then when you did and got tons of points went to get better and more powerful cars used more points to buy the best parts and modded/tweaked all your fave cars, was so much fun.

And it had night events which was quite engrossing and very demanding.

It was just the best.

A very good and rewarding game. I like that it encourages you to play the career mode with such gusto ( where some racing titles take it for granted ).
It's still the long varied race tracks ( Fujimi Kaido, Rally di Positano, Sidewinder, Nurburgring, LeMans ) that I love about this game so much and hope Turn 10 will build more of them for future download via their points system.
Although there are some glitches they are minor.

I'm just thankful really that Sony's got a more equal competitor in the XBox console because Nintendo caters more to kids, it's like Nintendo is to Disney while PS3/XBox360 is to Japan Anime..

..and if it weren't for the XBox we certainly won't have PGR Series, Forza games, Halo, Gears of War and other exclusive XBox titles.

As a moderate fanboy that's just good by me., Keep up the competition XBox.

I did import my GranTurismo Prologue over in Japan, only thing is it's not the game that I got but the CD soundtrack ( my avatar ).. no worries as it was a cousin of mine whose not into gaming and works over there that sent it to me for free.
With GranTurismo 5's release I'll definitely wait for our Australian version, although I'm going to be extremely jealous with all the in-game postings over the 'net by those early buyers'.. hhmmpphhh.. those lucky bastards.

Always loved PGR series, they always had a lot of good and important things to offer for their fanbase. { great number of cars and tracks, c*ckpit view, damage mode, weather effects and motorcycles ( PGR4 ) }.
