That's actually a projected loss. Kingtrharsh is correct. Sony didn't post a loss. More importantly, he is also correct about the gaming divisions and the roles they play within their respective companies.

The only reason MS is able to give away games, permanently, is because the offerings are so old. Why do you think Sony doesn't give away Plus games permanently? The more marketable the game, the more the publisher has to be compensated. If you're talking about giving away that game, permanently, it's going to cost more.
This is so lopsided that if you limited me to one game, for one system, I would take just one of the games offered for either the PS4, PS3, or Vita over the totality of GWG's offerings for the month.

Can the gaming community make a vow to stop oversimplifying arguments it doesn't agree with? Some people have very well taken the position, for the sake of not losing an argument, that Mario Bros. 3 running below 1080p and 60 fps is the same as a next gen port of Tomb Raider running below 1080p and 60 fps is the same as The Order running below 1080p and 60 fps.
That's nonsense. Is Apple going to swoop in and scoop up Nintendo? The ONLY division they have is games, and right now it's under performing.
I don't see how you think Sony will be in a better financial position to fight off Apple if they hold onto divisions costing them money. As far as future consoles go, less divisions within Sony competing for resources means more resources going into Sony's gaming division.

No, it wouldn't. The whole point of layaway is that you're reserving something by putting a portion of the payment down, so that it will be there when you make the full payment later. Why on Earth would Game Stop slow up PS4 sells by offering layaway for systems that are just going to be sold...
