@DarkOcelet
Again, just pointless comparisons. Why on earth would you say that whole PC thing based on PC RETAIL ?
Surely you have that much sense.
"My God if they have made this game PC only. With all its graphic goodness, it would have flopped. Thank You Consoles!"
LOL, nope. Did TW1 flop with all its 'graphic goodness' ? Nope
Did TW2 flop with all it's 'graphic goodness' ? Nope.
@sizeofyou
Well, we all want a finished product. This can be said for any game though. Even TW3 can be considered incomplete because it has some performance problems on consoles for that matter.
You have to release your game at some point. Devs could keep working on their games if they really wanted to, to make everything perfect.
pCars was, for all intents and purposes, a finished product. Unfortunately it did have a few too many bugs with i...
Actually very true. Ubisoft has incredible dev teams. It's just that some of their decisions as a publisher have adversely affected so many of their games, which is sad.
Misstep indeed, but many missteps in a row do give you a bad reputation.
And yes, most of it has been centred around Assassins Creed.
Great article. CDPR are not bad or anything. I think thing was because they didn't really know the specs of the PS4 and XBONE at all, when they started developing. For their next game, I don't think they will have this problem.
One more thing about downgrade -
Give PC users options. Just don't unnecessarily axe every feature from the PC port too, when you know you can leave them running.
Watchdogs had working options from E3, disa...
Don't understand how anyone can compare this to Unity.
If they downgraded the PC version for parity, CDPR needs to get flak for that, and they already have. but that is as far as the comparison to Ubisoft goes.
Maybe Watchdogs, that's it. A graphical downgrade at most.
Comparing the game to Unity and CDPR to Ubisoft in general ? That's just retarded. When on earth was the game every even remotely close to the broken mess that Unity was ? ...
"I'm all for patching in bug fixes that weren't uncovered in testing but tuning and development of a base product shouldn't be an ongoing cycle in my view..."
Wait, what ?
Why shouldn't they continue to improve the base product and tweak it after release ? Why shouldn't they continue to optimize performance and such ?
Irrelevant.
I could say the same thing about Ubisoft's Watchdog parity downgrade.
I could say the same thing about Unity being buggy.
I could basically say the same thing about Destiny.
I could say the same thing about everything.
Doesn't mean anything, or add anything to the topic.
It was downgraded because of consoles. That's absolutely fine though, because as you said, to make a game this big, they need that revenue, which is fine. Moving to consoles too is absolutely fine.
However, what's with the PC port not having any options to retain any of the features they cut from consoles ? Why ? Why not let us retain realtime reflections ? Or better foliage ? Are options going to hurt someone ?
I'll say this, if the downgrade...
xD looool
Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about.
It's funny, was Crysis 1 downgraded because of low end PCs? Was Crysis Warhead optimized ? Yes. Was it downgraded ? Nope. In fact looked better than C1.
Was TW1 downgraded because of low end PCs ? Was TW2 ? Nope, came out looking better than pre release footage. Was TW3 downgraded ? Yep. Were consoles involved ? Yep.
Was Crysis 2 downgraded from C1 in terms of grah...
C) Give PC users the OPTIONS to retain features that they removed on consoles. This is just common sense. Are options going to hurt someone ?
We've seen this in watchdogs - stuff disabled for the PC version, even though it was definitely there. Why ? for parity.
The same for TW3. Why not give us options ? Options to retain so many of the features you cut ? Let me guess
"We want the same experience across all platforms"
<...
Yeah, you can always play the damn game. I can say the same thing if a game has shitty micro-transactions in it.
I can say the same thing if the dev is pulling outrageous dlc shenanigans.
I can say the same thing for any issue that you might find important. "Who cares ? Damn, can't we just play the game and enjoy it?"
A downgrade for the sake of parity is absolute bullshit, and CDPR deserve the flak they get for that.
@starchild
lol, sorry, but there are actually significant features gimped or entirely removed.
Screenspace reflections removed entirely, and while lakes and ocean water have something to replace it, swamp water and puddles etc now have no reflections at all. Basically the swamps don't look half as good as they used to. No more red tinge on water when you strike enemies. Is that an artistic change ? Maybe water just looks better without reflections....
It's presentation. GTA wasn't designed to shock/disgust players the same way Hatred was.
A Hatred dev basically said the same. He said the violence in GTA was served up nicely, so it didn't end up being that violent.
"Why has this game been getting so much bad press? Because you play a bad guy and kill all the good guys?"
No, it's been getting bad press because it's trailer was made to disgust people. They rode off that s...
@DarkOcelet
What you're saying holds true only if it's the IDEA of killing people we're talking about.
That isn't the case here. Sure you can do all that in GTAV. You can also do some of it in Just Cause I'm sure. That isn't the point. No one cares about the fact that you are killing an npc.
It's simply about presentation.
Does GTAV have a grim, deathly, horror movie tone ? Does it have a story/pre...
That's ultra. Everyone there played on ultra, some with Nvidia hairworks off. We already have ultra footage on youtube. Gopher also confirmed that he played on ultra except for hairworks. So that's prettymuch how everyone played.
Personally, I think it looks incredible anyway. Fact is this is the most impressive looking open world rpg there is.
As hyped as I am for this game, I'm also really nervous for it. Really hope it lives up to all the expectations we have for it.
Paid mods defeats the point of modding entirely. How much will I have to pay for an ultra modded Skyrim ? Full price for the game and then ? an extra 50 dollars ? It isn't practical, it doesn't makes sense.
What are they even selling ? Mods that modify the game, how exactly ? Are they within a fixed and official system ? Like the cosmetic items people make for Dota 2 ? No, they can change literally anything about the game. How do you know if it even works right ?...
It's only fair in this case.
Polygon previously changed the score from 7.5 to 5 in an update because of brokenness or whatever.
So ofcourse when it gets patched up they have to update it.
@johndoe11211
"The fact that giant bomb gave that game a 4/10 without taking into consideration the online issues proves my point that that game was deliberately bashed by said media. There is no way in hell that that game should have gotten such a low score for its single player. It may not have been "groundbreaking" like the media insists every sony ip should be but it was a good racer. giving it 4/10 was downright spiteful and vindictive."
Oh, enough with the retarded jabs at PC gamers please.
PC gamers are not mad that consoles are able to run it. That's the most retarded thing I've heard.
They are annoyed because what was shown time and time again, even in the 35 minute gameplay demo, was so much better graphically than the final version. Ofcourse people are annoyed. Why didn't CDPR retain some of those options for the PC version ? Do options hurt anyone ?
Nee...
