PS3 has one CPU, Cell, that has 8 and 7 of those cores are in use, with 6 being in use with games, as 7th is dedicated for OS and security. These are based on PowerPC architecture. X0 has 1 CPU too, but 3 PowerPC-based cores. Both systems have 3,2ghz frequency for each core.
I am no expert on these matters, but never, ever trust numbers alone. Devs can do wonders or they can fail to do wonders.

Like... active mod scene? Faster fixes? Easier to add things to games through expansions? Plethora of genres? Retrogaming? PC still wins consoles, hands down, if one is to adapt the challenges PC gaming may sometimes offer. Consoles, after all, are usually just dumbed down PCs, with no other "use" than to play games, though X0 and PS3 are taking it to "Cheap PC" direction.

While Neogeo was purely a console, N-Gage was also a mobile phone, which happens to be Nokia's main area. That foray into gaming by Nokia was... how I'd say it... doomed even in the beginning.
Corruption jumps to the gun at this point, one could argue that even the Wii Sports is a somewhat good gaming experience, albeit a bit shallow, WarioWare also is quite good once you get past the minigameshiness, Excite truck implements the use of motion controlling nicely etc etc...

Ya, PS3 sure needs more time, that is clear enough. But X0? It has been out for close to 2 years by now, and it isn't that dissimilar from it's predecessor, both are, after all, based on PC. A step-up graphics - and physics - wise.
Ever heard of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? It has beaten every game after that, pretty much.
I'd also imply that Windwaker was more than enough "Hardcore", if we set graphics aside. Or do you require a game to be full of gore and blood for it to be "hardcore"? I also happen to remember certain Metroid Prime games, that came prior to corruption...

That one was horrid! HORRID I SAY! Gave me nightmares when I was but a child... And MK64 ruled the world, and still does, DD doesn't have the feeling in the battle.
I must congratulate everyone who has PS3 for yet another great game, and many other to come. I hope this will be the case with every console out there. I myself am yet to test this one out, maybe I'll get a chance once my friend gets this one.
