they can still release the 40gig here even if the 60 is still in stock. people who realize the 40 has no BC will get the 60 and in turn deplete that sku. i think it would actually be smart on Sony's part to have 3 sku's going into the holiday with different BC on all of them. the more choices you have the more consumers you cover.
none. it's worth it to get the 60gig if you don't own a PS2.
the 60gig will only sell out, not drop in price. then the 80gig will drop to the 60gigs price.
which would everyone want to pay for? $500 for 60gig 90% BC, or $500 for 80gig that's like 50-70% BC? (not sure about those percentages, but it's close)

as for the others, i also believe M$ will throw down some money to keep it, especially if it does well which it's going to.
yeah, i wouldn't rely on game consoles, but if the PS3 takes off, which will be any month now, it would be bad for the HD-DVD camp.
this doesn't matter since i own both consoles...
but i will say, in the defense of the PS3, that the full potential of CELL has not yet been reached.
