I have to agree with you. I'm the same age, been gaming the same amount of time you have and I've had all those frustratingly hard experiences in the past. For the most part now I just want a moderate challenge that isn't just damn near impossible. Couple your answer with Syaz's up above and that pretty much sums up my sentiments on it all. I like being able to have a moderate challenge and actually being able to finish the games I play (plenty from the past that I just wasn't able to beat) w...

All I'm going to say is....Battletoads. God I hated that game. Never finished it either cause I didn't want to end up sacrificing another controller.

Out of that list I'd say only 6 of them I want as of right now. Just Cause 2, Max Payne and Backbreakers I'll pass on. 3D Dot doesn't really have my interest right now, though it being developed by From Software does help it and will check out more on it later (right now absolutely loving their Demon's Souls). I might even have to knock my list down to 5 and remove Last Guardian for the time being, just because we've seen next to nothing on it. I never played any of the other Ico games so I'l...

Definitely wouldn't mind checking out Dragon Age at some point (just got too much to play at this moment). I've heard great things about it. Currently, however, I'm playing the runner-up Demon's Souls and I gotta say: Great game. I'm thoroughly enjoying it, it's addictively hard in a fun way. Very satisfying when you go through having to work your way through a section getting your ass kicked around every other corner only to reset and approach it differently to make it through finally.

I wouldn't even put SOCOM into the same category as all these shooters that I'm sure you have in mind when implying that you're burnt out on shooters. Those are just the generic shooters. This is a tactical shooter--of which I've actually only seen a handful at most this generation and would happily welcome a great tactical shooter to represent the subgenre.

I don't see why people give Slant Six such grief for Confrontation. It wasn't a bad game, really. I actually found it enjoyable. The only problem was that they had server issues and whatnot in the beginning. Once that was out of the way though it was pretty much exactly what I've ever expected from the online portion of SOCOM. It had no campaign mode, that's the only thing that alienated it from the franchise really. Other than that; a good game. But lack of single player campaign meant it di...

Once they got it patched up Confrontation wasn't that bad at all. It was really fun. My complaint is that it was online only. Nothing wrong with the game for what it was. But SOCOM fans want a campaign, that's where it's really at.

Agreed. New SOCOM please! I really wasn't expecting to hear this. I fully expected for Zipper to take time off so to speak just to tend to MAG and really nurse it through its start up. However, hearing that they're working on another project, I would absolutely die to hear it turn out to be a proper SOCOM. Not trying to take a jab at Slant Six here, just I want an actual campaign SOCOM. I've been craving that so bad. Forget all these other shooters that are just mindless run and gunners prett...

Wait. So the PS3 is selling more, but it's not expanding the HD market? Does nobody else see the complete lack of logic in that statement? I mean I can get the concept that the PS3 is now over 50% of the hd console sales as opposed to a much smaller percentage before. But how does that mean the hd market isn't expanding? Expansion means growth. Call me crazy but the way I see it is that ANY PS3 or 360 being sold is an expansion of the HD market because it makes the hd-console's consumer base ...

Yea this seems like something I'll probably wait to get myself too. Maybe even just after the holidays. Trine is another one I want to pick up later. Maybe by time holidays roll around they'll have a sale on these or something. Plus I might have a PSN card or two to use after the holidays anyways.

Don't even think it. It's just one line talking about the software in general.

Cool. When I first read that title I was about to flame on this like all the others lol thinking "What the hell? Sony has a killer game line-up". Maybe that's just me though. Then when I realized it meant system software I was more like "yea, I can agree with that".

The browser especially needs some work. I would love (like the article mentioned and I've talked with friends about before) if Mozilla and Sony got together to make Firefox for the PS3.

I think the writer actually makes some valid points. I know some people are going to get up in arms thinking this is just another blast/attack on Sony and they'll dismiss it as lame and try to hide it. However, it's not really that. Overall though this article touches on truth.

The title for one could've distinguished that they're talking about system software (ie browser, etc) as opposed to games (I see that's been changed now). I do think they exaggerate a bit here (I've actual...

@Father Murder
Well, depending on where the GOTY award is coming from, the former could be as insignificant (in terms of an accolade for quality) as the latter.

As for best selling, we all know that doesn't mean anything. Just look at all other forms of entertainment and you'll clearly see that best-selling practically never translates to better quality. In music you have people like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and Beyonce being annual Billboard chart-toppers. I...

Agreed with the two above about the whole movie thing. It's actually funny cause that Sony commercial for Uncharted 2 became a reality for me of sorts. My girlfriend curling up on the couch beside me just to watch, wondering what will happen next and get rather attached to the story and all. Of course she knew it was a game and not a movie. Though it did make us both laugh later when we saw that commercial again after she had watched me beat the game.

That being said, I've been ...

Forza 3 does indeed look to be a nice improvement over Forza 2 in areas. The lighting looks very nice in this game in comparison.

While I agree that I'm sure a couple of these people want this article to heat up for "bragging rights", I do at least agree with them that this should heat up (for different reasons though). This is a very good article and is more like the stuff that needs to be getting attention to make this a reputable site, rather than the fanboy nonsense that is constantly making it to the front page and heating up. This one doesn't even take the cheap route using some cheap controversial title...

I would absolutely LOVE to see this game do well. Finally what seems like a proper mature game. One that really appeals to us gamers that have grown up. I'd love to see this sale well as a sign to the industry that not everything has to be a shooter these days. And also to show that games are for mature adults as well, shake that stigma that it's just for kids.

Agreed. I think I'll be avoiding this demo, even though I'm very much excited for the game and can't wait to get my hands on it. I was even avoiding the Uncharted 2 demo until I realized it was a multiplayer demo.

I'm not even watching any videos of this game anymore either.

Yea. That's actually one of the first things that popped in my head when I read this. Whether tracks HAD to be circuits or not. Would be nice to see some point a to point b tracks. I could really see drag racing taking off even moreso though. Especially if PD delivers with a very extensive car customizing setup (and by that I mean customizing transmissions, engines, and other car parts...not custom paint jobs-which i don't care about at all).
