Sounds cool. I'm definitely going to have to take this opportunity to finally get around to buying the VC DLC. I have yet to buy that as I had already moved on from the game by time the DLC came out and just been too busy with other games since then. Considering the DLC is already cheap for what is it now though, I just can't pass up the even greater deal of it being on sale. Heard two of them wasn't that great, but definitely picking up the Selvaria mission.
On a side note, can...

I don't think that would really rule out a sequel. I mean look back at Super Mario Bros. There was no story to that. It was just "here, run from castle to castle trying to save the princess". Yet he (Mario) became an icon and sequel after sequel was released. I think there's plenty of room for a sequel. Maybe the Old One wakes up again or something simple like that. Then we just start all over again with different territories to fight through. Maybe somethin...
I think you miss the point. They were just using the name "Call of Duty" really more as a generic placeholder. They're just talking about video games in general being in the Olympics.
You still have the problem of actually pirating PS3 games. What with the cost to buy a blu-ray burner (about $200), plus the cost of discs (a 15 pack will cost you like $40). Then you have the problem of downloading all that data. In Japan it wouldn't be as much of a problem. However, in the US and UK where the average speed is more like 5 megabits per second, then it becomes a huge problem. It would take you something like 10 hours of non-stop downloading just to download one game.

This is beginning to sound like a very awesome game. It immediately grabbed my attention when I first saw it, and it seems to just be growing on me more. For one, I love the fact it's not just another generic shooter game. It's a tactical shooter which we need more of. Tactical shooters are the one that are much more appealing to me. I've always preferred SOCOM over COD and such. The only real tactical shooter I've seen this generation was Operation Flashpoint (maybe I'm forgetting one or two...
I don't know. The first video looks cool. Makes it look very nice. Though it brings up one doubt for me: How will it handle when you're having to aim the gun at the side wall from doing a 90degree turn with your character? Just seem weird turning that gun to face the side wall just to turn your character cause those guns we're used to aiming at the spot on the screen where we want to shoot.
Then comes the second video which shows me that obviously the turning of the gun isn't an ...
^Oh yea, I understand that now. Like I said though I only played a few rounds. So it will definitely take a lil while more to get in the groove of things. Definitely I already like how it's not about just running around and racking up the most kills though. I just didn't have enough time to get a proper feel for it. I'll already definitely be picking up the game when it releases in a couple weeks though.
Look at the sales of KZ2? What about them? By this point they're most likely above 2 million lifetime (since they were like 1.9million fall of 2009). Are you trying to imply that's poor sales? See that's exactly why people say sales don't matter to an extent. Because people like you imply that if it doesn't sell 5 million plus then it did poorly. I'd say 2million by any standard (unless it's dumb fanboy standard) is damn good sales. And it's being said that the development costs of KZ2 ended ...
^Your math is so very wrong. Ok let's take it and say they do in fact make $30 from each copy sold (which I don't think either, I'd probably peg it more at $20). But ok, $30. Now talking multi-plat. The average game costs 18-28 million (we're going to go in the middle and say the average is 23 million). Now in order to figure everything out we do some simple division...23,000,000/30= roughly 765,000 copies. That means they'd only have to sell about 383,000 copies on each platform (360 and ps3...
Don't 100% quote me on this, but...
You're right, developers don't make that full $60. After things like publisher fee and retailer fee, plus Sony or MS royalty fees, the developers tend to make $15-20 off of each game I think it is. Given that, a developer needs to sell about 1.25 million copies of the game total across both platforms for a multiplatform game. So 750,000 on each platform isn't unreasonable by any means. For an exclusive game (the cost drops quite a bit to $10Mil...
"Most people don't seem to have a problem with purchasing downloadable content."
Actually, most people do not buy DLC. In fact, only a very small percentage (15%) buy DLC. Most don't buy it even though they know it's there, then almost half aren't even aware DLC exists.

I agree. I would never say this was doomed for mediocrity. Just knowing who's behind the development pretty much saves that. Also, here's a point to note: There are tons of SOCOM fans (loyal ones at that). SOCOM hasn't had a real game represent the franchise this gen yet. Yes there was confrontation, but that wasn't made by Zipper, not to mention it got alot of crap in the beginning so it kinda deterred some people. I've said it from the beginning and I'll say it now, I fully expect the SOCOM...
Actually let's take that a bit further. Sales don't matter to an extent. I think somebody above already explained this but we'll do it again for the dense.
See alot of people on here act like if a game doesn't sale 5 million on the first day then it's doomed. That isn't the case at all. And that's where you get people coming in saying sales don't matter, because there's a sort of saturation point. Yes, sales matter. If a game sells only 100 copies, obviously we're not getting a s...
And that's exactly the reason I was excited for it from the beginning. Knowing Zipper's work with SOCOM and their desire to make this more of a tactical online game than the run-n-gun stuff, I was sold and had every bit of faith in Zipper.
Yea I really liked that about the beta. I haven't played it much (only lie 3 rounds), but already I noticed that they did in fact pull that off from what I saw. For instance the first round I played I ended up having the highest kill count on my team, when I look at the scores, I have the second lowest score. The next round I only had a couple kills (one of the fewest) and I got pretty high on the score list, and scored considerably more than I did the first round in comparison.

I don't think it sh*ts all over it. Both look fine to me. I don't see this one as being too crowded, looks fine. And it's got sort of a mature look to it.
What's this obsession with the boxart and needing it to look like an artistic masterpiece from everybody? It's just a boxart. The game is what's meant to entertain you, not the boxart.
Also, I thought a boxart was already revealed a while back for the US that was alot more plain than this and didn't even have any rai...
Great, if this is true (either way it can't be far from correct, we know it's March) then I don't have any idea how I'm going to play everything. I've got MAG coming in a couple weeks. Then Heavy Rain will be here in February. Then Kratos and FF13 coming in March. Then in the following months we also have at least ModNation and GT5 in there somewhere most likely. Not to mention right now all my time is being consumed by Demon's Souls, plus I still have a couple games to play that I've yet to ...
I'm still back on '08. No real reason to update for me. I'm the type that once I have one version of a sports game I'm usually fine for a few years. Hell, I still haven't even finished a career in '08. Go back to it from time to time. Something I really do like here though is the adding of the catcher calling the game. I really like that feature, it's one of the bigger things I have a problem with in '08. This franchise is a great baseball game.
Boy am I about to get flamed...
First off, Noby Noby Boy is complete and utter sh*t. How I got sucked into the hype of it and ventured to download it and give it a shot, I'll never know. But it was a waste of money (even if it was only a couple dollars or 5 or whatever it was at the time). How that game gets such praise is beyond me. Plain and simple: it sucks. On that note, played the demo for Katamari Forever as well and that game, while not as bad as Noby Noby Boy was pretty m...
So we get both? How f*ckin awesome is that? I voted for Black myself, but really I wanted both. I thought that was asking for too much though, so I went with just black. But lo and behold, Atlus proves to answer my wishes and gives me both. That's just having my cake and eating it too there. Now I'll get to go through and do all those world tendency specific things without even having to try swaying the tendency. This is absolutely awesome news.
