You couldn't go anywhere without the media praising it and part of the reason for that is their lifestyle, Many gaming journalists just want free games to review and using the gaming industry as a jumping off platform to move up in the media world. In other words it is good for people who are not invested in the hobby but bad for people who are.
Clock is ticking Microsoft, If you want to get cash back on this game. If you wait a year don't expect people to pay full retail for this on other platforms.
Less sales on Xbox. If the majority of developers want to secure finance for their game they'd best ignore the platform that is going to take it away from them or release on it much later.
They didn't get the memo the game is dead and the Bethesdabots only want magic and fantasy.
Ryse was better to be fair.
Yeah and other quarters it is 63% and sometimes lower than that, the split goes up and down so it isn't quite the digital domination you are trying to paint. I suspect given all that has been going on the past couple of years with digital and subscriptions people might start having a change of heart and tip the balance back.
Once again the biased gaming press get it wrong.
I'll wait for someone to record the game and convert it to an FMV for the SEGA MEGA CD port.
Microsoft will bring it to PlayStation later but they will find that emulating Sony's PC strategy won't work on consoles. You have a window of hype for consoles and if you are out of that window it effects sales massively. As can be evidenced with games like Hi-Fi Rush. That would have sold a boat load more had it launched at the same time.
More mediocrity "one-and-done experience" for a 7 year development. Sorry but 81 on Metacritic is completely wrong. I think we have a new problem of people over praise reviewing games then taking it back after the fact. aka Starfield.
@RupeeHoarder basically nailed it, The US gaming media has the biggest slant for Xbox even when they produce crap. So everyone else has to work twice as hard to get good scores. I honestly don't understand how people in the US can still have such a boner for Xbox after 10+ years of disaster. It isn't your red white and blue patriot box. This is Microsoft we are talking about.
Seeing a lot of average reviews but not being submitted to Metacritic, interesting.
6.5 is about right.
Probably won't be a 3rd game, not if it takes another 7 years for this result.
Unfortunately Rolling Stone if you are going to post a review it needs a score attached to it.
lol
I suspect they are safe in the sense that Microsoft won't want anymore backlash so they will probably RARE'ify them as an asset to avoid headlines. Meaning it will be a slow death over a decade until the only thing that remains is the name.
@Lighting77 The proof is in the pudding, "Partnerships for Events: Microsoft and IGN partner for specific events or showcases." "Sponsored Segments: Microsoft has sponsored segments within IGN's showcases." "Industry Relationships: Microsoft and IGN, as major players in the gaming industry, simply have good working relationships. This leads to collaborations on shows & joint announcements without any ownership involved." They just had an event together re...
Shed the non US assets that are not favorable to Xbox keep the US assets that are. Microsoft are going to deliver crap and they are going to tell you their crap is good and you are going to buy it. That seems to be the strategy. At this point I just want them out of gaming as they are operating like cancer.
Game dev is effectively rolling a dice because they lack faith in their own game. That is fundamentally the wrong thinking and attitude. Ironically this works out bad for Microsoft too. Because if Microsoft are willing to pay for your game and you are willing to sell it because you don't think it will sell then that's two idiots.
